How in the world do you get into an attacking close the table rally with short pips then when the opponent starts countering twiddle and start attacking topspin. this man loops and drives fh with inverted and short pips, TPB with short pips, RPB with inverted, chop blocks, reverse serves, twiddles. there doesnt seem like anything he can't do....insanely creative

He perfected it, I wouldn't say he invented rpb. Jiang Jialiang started fiddling around with it before him, but wasn't very good. The 'inventor' might be coach Xu Shaofa, who recognized the power of shakehand style and wanted a penhold answer to the shakehand game. Xu also perfected the high toss serve, in the early 70's.

The word you are looking for is pioneered, not perfected. Wang Hao is the one who perfected it.

Christian Adrian Aniceta Xue Fei?? He's just one of the hundreds of copies of Wang Hao. He's still young and didn't do anything new. WH is the only who fits the expression.

My knowledge of ancient penhold lore in China isn't up the likelihood that there might have been thousands of ordinary club players in China who stuck some rubber on the reverse side and played that way, all the way back to the 50's. Or even the hard-rubber era. I mean all around the world people have been doing all kinds of goofy sht with their bats. The excellent Canadian player Max Marenko played off hard rubber on both sides of a semi-ph style grip. By 'perfected' it, I don't mean every shot. Otherwise we might claim that not even XX hasn't 'perfected' rpb: He never _serves_ rpb! None of them do. Edit: Marinko. I'm not sure now that he used both sides.

Miss the 38mm and speed glue time. Fast, loud and a range of playing styles. The modern TT is all about BH to BH rally betweeb two Shakehand players. A lot more boring to watch.

The video lied. LGL never used RPB he used the same side for both forehand and backhand just like Kim Taek Soo and Ryu Seung Min and Chiang Peng Lung. The inventor of RPB was Wang Hao and did very well with it beating Wang Liqin in the 2009 WTTC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nutelko8 I believe it's reverse penhold backhand, i think it's the utilization of the backhand, traditionally penhold is just a forehand style using one rubber only
