You mentioned you were going to do recirculating hot water system to have hot water in the bathroom on demand - have you got a video on that or planning to do so?

Just a little tip on the concrete breaking. Once you have the saw cuts made, get your first piece of concrete out the way you did. Then, place a long (5’ +/-) pry bar under the edge of the next piece to be broken out with a chunk of concrete or block under the bar to use a fulcrum. As you pry up and apply pressure on the next piece of concrete to be broken, hit the concrete with your sledge hammer. The concrete usually cracks very easy. Then you can pry it the rest of the way out with the pry bar. Sometimes you can also use the same technique, except pry the second piece up a little with the pry bar and place a rock or chunk of concrete under the concrete to provide an air gap. Then hit the slab with your sledge hammer. It will break very easy and then pry it up and out.

I have a metal roof but still put in a gable fan two years ago. Not only did it make the inside of my house cooler but it also lowered the awful tennessee humidity.
@HomeRenoVisionDIY

humidity is no joke. having a mechanical air movement system is always a great upgrade to extend the life of your building. Cheers!

Thank you for the video. I always learn a lot from your videos. I wonder what if it was a concrete slab reinforced with rebar, would the concrete saw and sledge hammer be sufficient to break it and dig a trench for the water pipes?

Have you thought to test the basement for Radon gas? Could be a good time to install a fan for this while you are breaking the ciment?

I've been putting off doing this exact same project on a renovation I've been doing. Single car garage turned into apartment being turned into a music/recording studio. Found a leak in a water line in the bathroom that was added on after the fact. The water line comes in galvanized, goes through a valve into copper (where the leak is of course), and then goes under the slab they poured. Hopefully it's under the concrete anyway, it wouldn't surprise me if it's inside the floor by the way they did things in this mess. I've got the rough cut out where I'm going to dig up but I need to rent an electric jack hammer to finish and I just haven't been ambitious enough to do it. May have burned out a circular saw cutting the grooves for the outside of the new channel that's going on. Guess I'd better put that on my to do list this weekend. I blame you for making me work on a Saturday.

The chipper does not save any time vs the sledge once the lines are cut. We also are only running on temporary power so we can't do heavy load tools and be live at the same time. Cheers! If you can't swing a sledge then rent the second tool and save your back.

I plan to use dricore insularmor too (the barricade version but it's the Lowe's equivalent and made by the same manufacturer). The instruction manual says to cut 3 1/2 inch strips to place under your framing. Then place the sheets adjacent to that. Any thoughts on that? I would think there would be gaps everywhere which breaks the barrier/thermal bridge. I even called the dricore number and they doubled down on this advice. Open to your thoughts
@HomeRenoVisionDIY
@HomeRenoVisionDIY 23 дня назад
the issue is framing on top of a finished subfloor. you can always go back and add a bead of spray foam to seal up the gaps. CHeers!

Those knee pads look great - but I can't seem to get any of them to stay in place on my knees. They always fall down anytime I get up and take a few steps no matter how tight I get them. Maybe the wider band on these will work differently.

Hey there,I’m getting ready to set up a craft room in my basement and would like to attach cabinets and peg board to the walls, which are the same material (block walls)as I see here in your video. Is it ok to do that? I know I will need to use a hammer drill and carbide drill bits. I just don’t want to affect the integrity of my walls. 😊

I have to do the same thing to swap the positioning of my sink and tub drains in the basement. I asked them to just rough it in. What is the best way to tie any modifications into the existing plumbing/drainage? I want to swap all 3 positions of the shower, toilet and sink drains.

I think today you could've used Nate's help, too!! I guess he couldn't be there. My shoulders are hurting just watching you and Matt swing those sledge hammers! 😅 It's a good thing you found the issue with the missing footing under that main section. Better now than later. I appreciate the explanation about the whirlpool effect in the drain for the pipe system, too. I've never heard that. So, thank you for the video!! Have a nice week off!! 🖐

I actually like to hear about the different projects he is working on while he works, especially when there's no new information to share until he gets to a certain point. And knowing how much he has accomplished makes me feel like he is certainly certified to be sharing all of this knowledge with us. I think it helps show others they can achieve good results too with a little motivation and effort.
