I'm not here to defend anyone's actions or crimes. I will say however that announcements like this are absolutely disgraceful and should not be allowed. Prosecutors & DAs make grandiose statements, assert allegations as fact, and disparage the defendants before the accused have been proven to be guilty (beyond a reasonable doubt) by judge/jury. Can you imagine if you were charged and found to be innocent after an 'official' makes statements like this to the press? If found not guilty, defendants should be able to sue for slander and libel if DAs feel these dramatized press conferences are absolutely necessary in the pursuit of justice.
