Precious, precious man! I'm smiling and tearing up at the same time watching this. Two things I'm grateful for: Triple A, and Alabama (haven't raked my leaves yet much less dealt with the brush).🤭😇

Just in case Albert may look at some of these comments I want to thank him. In January of 2020 I was fortunate to see him play two nights in a row, one night in Ohio, the next night just across the river in Kentucky. As a fan of live music the memory of those two nights really helped carry me through the live shut down. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Albert talking about his career. Probably my first time hearing his work, and not realizing it at the time, was the Gemini Suite album. Then later I saw him on stage with Clapton and have been a fan of Albert ever since.

I saw the Everlys back in 1984 and was blown away by their guitar player - who I did not know at the time - it was of course Albert Lee as I discovered and I've been a fan ever since. Amazing career - amazing player - amazing gentleman. He's a treat thanks for doing this Joe!

I was honoured to be at one of Alberts talks many years ago in the UK where I then lived. It was the only time I was astounded at a guitar skill and it was where I discovered that he played with all the fingers of his right hand.

Albert Lee’s fingers are lightning on the guitar and, oh, what a country vibe, Can definitely tell he’s a country boy at heart! …..love his early Rock & Roll style too. Enjoying Joe’s wide variety of guests. Best thing about your show, Joe! ❤️.¸¸.☆

Albert did a workshop one night (at Musicians Outlet in Palm Desert) back in “96” and he was displaying all his “B” Bender talents along with playing his Music Man Signature guitar ~ Just an incredibly gracious & gifted guitarist, and a great sense of humor as when some youngster asked him what it was like playing at Woodstock 🙄😆

Albert is such a regular guy! When he was on a show with Emmy Lou when they played at the Ramona Bowl back in the mid 90's I went by my old friend's place and just missed meeting Albert who had just dropped by to see his old pal Dave Wendals from England. Albert had drove out there from his home to do the gig with Emmy and after the soundcheck he just ambled over to Dave's pad for a quick visit. Can't believe I just missed him! Story of my life... Argh! Dave actually turned me on to Albert's music via his 1st solo version of 'Country Boy' - which I knew about because of hearing Ricky Skaggs #1 hit of it in '86 - which I bought. Oh, THAT Albert Lee,,, the one on Clapton's 'Just One Night' album... I missed meeting Danny Gatton at the Fender Custom Shop in Corona back in '94 by about a minute when I stopped by to see Fred Stuart. I walk in the door and Fred is standing there, "Hey man, you just missed Danny! You see a white van pull out?" Affirmative. "That was him, he came to pick up his guitars I built for him and some amps we gave him." Shoot! Again, it was Dave who turned me on to Danny's music via the soundpage recording in Guitar Player magazine of Danny's 'Nitpickin' - I was floored! Dave made me a stack of Gatton albums on cassettes and introduced me to Danny's mother Norma Rae after Danny died. Years earlier in the late 80's I missed seeing Jazz guitarist Howard Alden at his mother's home where I was scheduled to prune her roses out in the same berg where Albert played with Emmy Lou. I pulled up to Kay Alden's home in my truck and this car with New York plates pulls away just as I pull up to park. I get out and Kay comes out and says, "Oh, No... What did you forget this time Howie? Oh, it's you - Did you see Howard? You just missed him. He was here with his wife and kids. They're out in a cross country road trip and they're on their way back to New York. He brought me his latest album - I'll put it on and open the window so you can hear it while you work." Dang! Oh, well... I'd met Howie years before when we were just little shavers, just learning to play when he would be jamming on a plectrum banjo or an archtop guitar at his parents music store in Riverside, CA 'Alden's Music' (Store #2 - Store #1 was down in Newport Beach!) My dad and I would go there in the 60's where he bought his guitar strings. Howard is about three years younger but when he was 8 or 9 he was already shredding and taking lessons from Jimmy Wyble and George Van Eps up in Hollywood. Me? I was just trying to learn which end of the guitar is which!

His guitar work on Carlene Carter’s first album was where I first found out about Albert Lee. “I fell in love” was essentially one long lead break. Outstanding.

I once was helping do sound for a Emmy Lou Harris show with Albert on lead guitar in Eugene Oregon. Two shows and, for some reason, the first show crowd broke into cheers at every lead Albert took. Not so in second show. Both shows were excellent.

Albert lee ! such a gentle soul , almost fragile even . AND still full of enthusiasm for the beloved guitar and the music. The children of his age were some of the toughest ever while still gentle. Georgie Fame was a vector point for so many British artists. POLAR opposite of somebody else joe interviewed this year (not saying but you can guess).Hint it was all "ME ME ME "and "the man and system is stacked against me".

Joe, maybe stop saying yeah and uh huh when the guests are talking. It causes dead spots. I say this with love and respect. Its like a guitar with a noise gate cranked.
