The movements were good. In other aspects, they did disappoint. They did not use traditional musical instruments like the fala and pate. Instead they used drums and a trash can. Seriously, a trash can? How embarrassing. They also used stereo recordings. That is good for impromptu performances only.
@@theephraimite I did notice that. Samoa, on the other hand went old school with it all and I loved it. Did you also notice most of 🇼🇸 team were older folks whereas 🇦🇸 had the younger group? That also could've been why. Makes me wonder if they both came together and agreed on what they were taking to the FestPac. Nevertheless, Samoa mo Samoa. They did an excellent job.
Every nation of the Pacific represented their land so beautiful ❤️🏝️🌺. I hold Easter Island 🗿🗿 deeply to my ❤️ as the strong island of the coast of Chile, wishing all of Rapa Nui people's culture continues for many more generations.
They been at festpac a long time brother. Different groups from round Australia been going to it since the 80s. There's is some old ones to like 1992 pacific arts and culture festival in cook islands. You see indigenous Australia there to. They are a blessing to watch.
The pride of the delegations for the 13th Festival of the Pacific Arts in Hawaii is beautiful, the presentations shared by each delegation representing their unique identity and culture to the world. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
50:50 SAMOA: wow, their dance and beats get the blood flowing! Even though it's a large group, they are exact and in unison like a precision marching band! Fantastic! 🔥
@@originalclaymoreboy728that’s not the point of the comment you’re replying too. And not much have been twirling weapons like it as I don’t see much in other cultures. Not that it matters.
@@originalclaymoreboy728it appears the comment was referring to American Samoa’s tribute to the father of fire knife dancing/siva Afi, Letuli Olo. I’m sure every island diligently trained with their weapons.
@@theephraimiteYes it does matter: because a lot of our island nations continued a lot of traditions that other PI nations didn’t get to practice due to colonisation and the arrival of Christianity influences into our islands. We all had tattooing and had our own weapons, so much rich culture which is lost! So with these delegations at least we can say that this unites us but also helps accept differences.
Nice one Kiribati 🇰🇮 Very well done, just what's wrong with our boys hands? They're bit sloppy tbh do they eat fish before they perform 😂, jokes aside, lovely performances
Guam gets to chery pick what cultural elements it likes from other pacific island nations and present it as thier own because there was little to none written down or sketched about ancient chamorro song & dance by the spanish conquistadors/ missionaries . some would call it neo contemporary interpretation of Chamorros culture
This isn’t about Chamorros from Guam or Saipan. Before, those Chamorros who live in Saipan were from Guam. I apologize but GUAM was colonized by not just the Spanish, but Japanese and America. My grandparents were not allowed to speak our native tongue while under Japanese & American rule; we need to all come together as one people of the Marianas.
@@santospaul8103 I've been doing a lot independent research on Nauruan culture. One of the most intriguing aspects, is learning that most of the maternal ancestors of the Iruwa clan originated from Kiribati. However, you've brought up something that has grasped my interest and I wanted clarification. Are saying ancestors of the I-Kiribati came from Nauru before migrating to Kiribati?
love that Australia is there representing, but kinda disappointed with our cultural dances! I’ve seen first hand how amazing our culture is and this… wasn’t it…
Good job to all cultures. As a Samoan, however, I can only critique my people. Amelika Samoa, stop taking too long; we are not the only ones showcasing our culture. Be mindful of other cultures. And use traditional instruments like the wooden gong and fala. Seriously, you used a trash can? And what’s up with the stereo music? Other than that, I give you an B+ for the dances. You did great there. It could’ve been an A, but some movements were non-traditional. Tuesday ngt - June 11, 2024.
@@originalclaymoreboy728 1:06:05 im talking about the entitlement of his delivery in his comment....THE AUDACITY! We Samoans always be doing too much!😮
