We just LOVE our 2022 Santa Fe PHEV in luxury trim. The cabin is huge and spacious seats are comfortable and this Big Rig gets 75 Miles per gallon. Whats not to love..SMILES...

Yeah, they're great vehicles! Thanks for sharing your experiences! Feel free to subscribe, we plan a lot more videos on these vehicles, and their features!

Great comparison. Would love to see a Telluride vs Palisade comparison.

That's one that, if I could get them both in top trims, I would definitely do. The EV6 and Ioniq 5 would be two other vehicles that I'll absolutely compare and contrast in the same video. Today we're going to contrast the Telluride and the Santa Cruz! (We're now rule breakers!!)

I noticed the trunk comparison had the featured third row folded down which fits it being a short hauler for larger adults. It would definitely need a roof rack if you’re going to fill it with a young family on a trip because behind the third row is not enough for vacation luggage. I’m assuming the tow capacity of each is lighter being PHEV’s and that question came in late. Do you mind posting that result here for those that didn’t catch the show comments. Thanks Peter, for all you’re doing.
@BrantfordKia
@BrantfordKia 2 года назад
Yes, I agree, a roof box is a great option for people needing to take a lot of luggage while keeping the third row up. Yes the towing capacity of these is just 2000 lbs instead of up to 3500 lbs for the 2.5 Turbo engined vehicles. Personally, I don't think the capacity is less ONLY because of the engine, I think the weight of the batteries plays into the decreased overall capacity.

Thanks for telling towing capacity but it seems the actual reciever hitch is not integrated from the factory but is a dealer installed option. Correct? Factory hitches seem better integrated to me.

PHEV 2022 Sorento vs Santa Fe: 1) is front passenger seat equipped with power like driver's? (Happy spouse). 2) either have power-folding exterior mirrors?
@hong99sm
@hong99sm 2 года назад
Are the seats in the Santa Fe more plush than in the Sorento? I find the seats in my Sorento PHEV to be a bit firm but they are feeling better as they get broken in.
@BrantfordKia
@BrantfordKia 2 года назад
I'm not sure if I'm able to judge that. In this particular one, I would say that these seats might be a bit better in the Santa Fe compared to the Sorento in the video, but the Sorento offers seats like this in the SX model. It's close, and I find both to be extremely comfortable for me.

Hyundai always seems to have the more premium product when compared to a Kia. In the States, Kia is the entry-level vehicle, and Hyundai is a more premium vehicle. Nice review, Hyundai is definitely the better product here and a much better value.

Hi Peter. GREAT demo video as usual !! Trying my best but can't find some info re the Santa Fe Ultimate model: While demos show the 2021 Calligraphy with power auto folding mirrors, do the 2019 & 2020 ultimates auto fold or do they even fold electrically ? Thanks Peter. Brian

I don't know off the top of my head, but I don't think so... I'll have to see if I can check when I've got the vehicle. I think it's only the top trim.

Hi Like the Kia Plug In. I enjoy camping in my vehicle. With auto climate control turned on all night. A/c or heat turned on. Will the Kia hybrid do this?
@BrantfordKia

This car will likely start the gasoline engine in that type of situation.

Is there a recommendation to charge the battery to 80% rather than to full in order to preserve the long term efficiency of the cells?
@BrantfordKia
@BrantfordKia 2 года назад
On a PHEV, my personal opinion is that I wouldn't worry about that. Most users are cycling through the battery regularly anyway. It's not like an EV where someone could charge to 100% drain the vehicle only to 90% and charge again and again... For the most part, I would just charge and go. I might avoid leaving it at 100% if you took an extended vacation. Maybe at that point leave it at 80%.

Hi Peter, when I test drove a Tucson PHEV, in full EV mode, it was a cold day. Whenever I turn on cabin heat, the gas engine came on. Is this the case for air conditioning as well? Just wanted to know if I have to compromise efficiency if I need heat or cool air when driving in full EV mode? Thanks
@BrantfordKia
@BrantfordKia 2 года назад
The heat requires much more engine use. The air conditioning can run for very long periods without the engine running. In Canada, think of the most benefits being available to you 3 seasons of the year. In the winter, there are a few compromises in efficiency *But you should still get much better overall efficiency than a traditional gasoline vehicle.
