Do not use flashfire. it just prevents the user from being damaged. it still takes recoil damage beacuse it uses the move still. Use Damp because damp makes it unable to use Mind Blown at all.

Congrats. I barely have the patience to do shiny charm odds hunts lol so I'll be doing my hunts with the charm. Most of my hunts are MM to make them as competitive as possible, but I'll take a break from those for all these SR hunts for UBs. I also have a badge quest going in Heart Gold, but because of my impatience, I often put it on hold lol. I have 7 shinies and 7 badges in there, but I'd likely be done with the badge quest if I never did put it down. Props to you for your continued full odds hunts.

Thanks to you, in my gold on virtual console, I decided to shiny hunt for Shiny Ho-Oh, and while I didnt count every reset, i reset most every day during my lunch hour and at home after work at least 1-2 hours, Which still let me reset a lot because of how fast it is. After a week and a half I found it and caught it in a pokeball! I did transfer it to ultra sun for my playthrough because why not? After I am currently hunting blacephalon and then going to look for latios after so thanks for motivating me! Love the vids!

Congratulations! I wanted to try and I got mine 2 days ago in 18 SRs. I couldn't believe it.

Great job! This is one of my favorite shinies. I hunted it via runaways and got a Timid Shiny Blacephalon (Synchronize). For those hunting it, be sure to use a high-level, alive Pokemon with Damp against it at all times (I used a level 100 Golduck) to prevent it from killing itself with Mind Blown. Also, bring a good stock of Beast Balls. I had 99, which was overkill, but better safe than sorry.

Someone has probably already said this, but Flash Fire only prevents the damage on your own Pokémon, not the recoil, however, Damp does work to prevent Mind Blown entirely, including the recoil, so it's probably a better idea for hunting.

I had the exact same thought process as you when I Shiny hunted Blacephalon (except I didn't have Shiny Poipole, which I am actually Shiny hunting now), and I got my Shiny Blacephalon after 5578 SR's. Congrats!

Yes! As someone who also hunted this, I had shiny charm though, I have to correct the record and say Flash Fire DOES protect your Pokémon from damage, but Blace still takes recoil. I believe it's programmed to only use Mind Blown once however and only use it twice when all other PP is exhausted. I'm just speaking from my experience, so I don't think it's for sure, but I never had a Blacephalon KO itself. And my Heatran didn't save one from taking half its health.
