This video was requested directly from our comments section. You wanted us to look at the Kia Seltos Turbo and compare it to the top of the line, non-turbo model. So this is a closer look at the Kia Seltos SX vs. the Kia Seltos EX Premium. In this video we don't just tell you that these two engines are different, we go into detail to show you why those differences matter, and we look at the other features that are different as well, all in an effort to help you decide which vehicle is better for you!

for day to day trips of 45 minutes or less, the 145 hp gdi with cvt is good enough: see if you can make a reasonable deal with the LED headlight & foglight upgrade

Yeah, I think the EX Premium is a great vehicle, and a great value in the class! That's the one with the non-turbo engine, but great tech inside, and the LED lights.

Great comparison while I compare 2022 Soul and Seltos and powertrains. If you don't mind is one of the two engine/transmission combos more reliable than the other? Even though KIA has the 10 yr powertrain warranty I don't want to be visiting the dealership for service except as scheduled. Do you find owners with both engines experience the same reliability? Thanks again for your thorough reviews.

If you search any car from any brand on Google, you'll find problems. In my real world experience, the Soul and Seltos have both been very reliable. They share engines and transmissions (the Seltos has an optional engine on the top of the line version that the Soul doesn't have) The Forte also shares the same engine and transmission.

I’m upgrading from a 2017 Kia Soul SX Turbo to a Seltos EX Premium. Not too concerned about downgrading the power and pep but am a little concerned about missing out on the Bose sound system. Was happy with the standard audio (not the 10 speaker Harmon Kardon upgrade) in my Soul. Peter - how does the sound in the EX Premium compare to that of the Soul? Any significant difference?

The Kia Seltos has a "decent" stereo. I would say it's on par with the Soul. The best "base stereos" that I've heard in recent Kia vehicles are our two newest models. The K5 and the new Sorento. If you go with the highest trims in the Kia lineup and get Bose or Harmon Kardon systems, you'll never be disappointed. My personal Soul EV is fine... it's not the feature of the car that I brag about, but it's not poor in any way, and I think the base Seltos radio is very similar in my opinion.

You showed the comparisons of the different trims and showed they all come with blind spot and rear-cross traffic collision in all of the trim levels including the S. Is this only in Canada? We're looking at the comparisons in the US and these two safety items don't appear to be included until you reach the EX and not in the LX and S.

Yes, we film in Canada, so when we get into that level of specifics, they apply to Canadian cars only. Trims are usually a little bit different in the U.S.

Is it possible to add some kind of extra-premium package to the EX Premium. I prefer the EX Premium due to its gas efficiency, but would love to have the Bose audio and the heads-up display. Can I add those features to the EX Premium as you can do it in some Hyundai models?

No, right now there's no option package to add those to the EX Premium.

Ordered a 2022 SX last Monday here in N.S. that same color and the day it arrives it go in my paintbooth for a cherry black roof, could not get the black roof with the sunroof so do it myself I will.

Unfortunately with the automotive inventory shortage its very rare that we will be able to film all available colours together. However, we have done individual videos of just about every colour. For 2023 we haven't heard news of new colour choices.

It should be great! Turbo engines can compensate for less oxygen up there. So that would be the engine to get up there. It also has ALL the torque available low in the rev range, and that makes it great for power on a hill climb.

Interesting. We can't get the contrasting roof colour because at this time the factory isn't capable of doing a contrasting roof colour and a sunroof on the same vehicle.

That's a great question and one that I'm trying to get an answer to. We have at least 10 on order, but I don't expect them until much closer to the end of the year. As soon as we have a date, I'll let everyone know in these videos.

I really like this SUV, but wouldn't buy it because I hate that "Heads Up Displays".

That's an interesting reason not to buy it. You can hide the display and use the vehicle as if it never had a Heads Up Display.

The EX premium and SX Turbo models are very similar. I would suggest you drive them both and see if you need the extra power of the Turbo engine. I'm not sure which one I would buy, they're both excellent!

The Seltos isn't rated to tow in North America. I'm not sure what other regions have done with tow ratings.

The Seltos is not rated to tow. We recommend the Kia Sportage to tow anything up to 2000 lbs.

@@BrantfordKia interesting - they are just fine to tow here in NZ and why one market would have them rate it and not another is weird. 1000kg braked and 600kg unbraked in our rating
