Nice song guys! I love the timing thing where one verse ends and the next starts early. Those are the kinds of dynamics I have always loved about live. The bridge is layered and edgy love it.
After several plays it's now grown on me. I now find the tune going round my head. 7/10 for me. I'm expecting bigger and better on the album! But then again that's my opinion. The boys are never going to please everyone!!
It is not one of their best songs, I'll admit that, but I love its positive energy. You can hear that they are excited happy of their reunion. I don't even see this song being necessarily about romantic/sexual love, but more as metaphore of them falling out and finding their way back together again as a band and especially as friends.
Not bad, great to hear you 4 back at it again. I hope the studio recordings are just you 4 guys and not that extra guitarist Ed was touring with. Live deserves to be just the original members, that's where the chemistry is, just look at U2. I hope the rest of the album features some great clean guitar stuff too with the strong choruses. Secret Samadhi was great, but Lakini's Juice, the lead single, was my least favorite by far. The rest of the album has awesome understated gems that didn't require to be in-your-face rock. Lots of beautiful LIVE songs when they have great dynamics. Regardless, great to hear you playing the old and new tracks as a 4-some.
song's not great, no where near the depth and technical caliber of what we know to be LIVE, songs from Mental Jewel are more amazing and dynamic than this but hey, it's been along time. I do agree that's it a good example of their energy and enjoying one another again. I hope they fall right back into their chemistry and the rest is extremely better. Excited to have the boys finally back.
Rob Melrose I agree about the production on SFBM. The production was terrible. The soul was sucked out of it. I really enjoyed Birds of Prey though. No it wasn't Throwing Copper as far as depth is concerned. But it did rock and Ed sounded great.
so sad that the Turn is followed ny this, sounds generic, boring, and sounds so lifeless, as opposed to what they've made before, I understand trying something different, but that would be like Rush trying to sound like REO Speedwagon. Having another drummer and guitarist makes me wonder if the 'Chads' are going to be exiting the band, if this is a reunion, they should have stayed apart, they certainly had a great era of music, but they should probably put it to rest if this is the best they can make after ten years. 😖
dont like it. sounds super generic and lacking the raw energy of what made them great. older band whos creative well as run dry. glad they are back and hope they do well but i was hoping they could muster up some of that angst that made their earlier work so powerful. not hearing any of that chad taylor anger on the guitar at all
With all due respect, this is not a good song. I’ve been anxiously awaiting new material but the lyrics leave much to be desired and don’t make a lot of sense. Hope you have something stronger to fill out the EP.
Erika Seshadri thanks but I don’t need someone to decipher a plethora of cliches, I get it. They just don’t add up to something greater than simplicity, they were better than that.
Fair enough. It's not their norm. Personally, I think it's sweet that they came so close to writing a love-ish song after all these years... And the drums and guitar together? The Chads are killing it. Anyway, this is just one out of many more to come, right? You will have plenty of opportunity to get what you want. (: Cheers.
The music part's great but the lyrics are nothing special and yet another sexy song to boot..... Ed man we're trying to trust you again after what you did to everyone but this isn't inspiring a lot of confidence.
