I am in just about the same situation. My vintage Yankee collection is massive, however, as much I enjoy them there is no reason for them to control my life. I would like to move on to another place as well, so I will have to figure out the best way to part with my collection piece by piece.

I liked the story about asking a girl to the prom. Figuring out a way to use the adrenaline for your benefit is an excellent approach. I was like your friend Lee when I was younger but now I am more like you in the story. Thank you for bringing this up. This could be applied to anything breaking us out of our comfort level. Also, I would like to say that was another great live. 😀

So exciting to hear about your move !!! I think it wouldn’t hurt to keep a few of your most special candles with you. I am moving into my RV so I had to purge my collection. It was a humble collection compared to yours but difficult nonetheless. I’m still keeping a few but not really buying new ones. Well I may on occasion but not collecting anymore. Happy New Year 🎉❤

Good luck with the potential move. As a fellow person with way too many things, I kinda find my collections to be a bit of a prison. It just is too bad that selling stuff is such a pain potentially with the new eBay and other services’ 1099 rules for $600 or more in sales that got delayed until 2023. Who the heck has receipts from 10-20 years ago to prove what you paid? If I could do it, I would unload all of my collections minus a few currently irreplaceable things and a small number of favorites.

Thanks, Eric. Honestly, it’s been a long time coming. In the past I’ve always had a home base to store all of my many things. Life is becoming far more mobile and I’m losing the benefit of having that home base. I’m not overly concerned about getting the full value for my candles, but it would help me emotionally if I knew they were going to a good home (someone who understands their historical value and is not too concerned with bragging rights). Maybe we should have a monstrous burning party…. A walk-through aromatic retrospective experience of the Yankee Candle Company 🤔😄. eBay is certainly nothing like it used to be. It’s should be called “BuyItNow dot com”. Thanks, Eric. Happy new year.

@@TheCandleEnthusiast Shane, you know what would be fun...when someone buys one of your candles and if they are willing and able, they do a short video with you of their thoughts on the fragrance. It would be fun to see a guest review and you could talk and interview the person about the candle. As an added bonus for you, it would be nice to see the candle's new home. :)
