Hi Justin, I am so psyched to get this piece of black opal that you cut last week. It’s gonna show up today or tomorrow. I can’t wait.

Blimey, that parcel was a corker! Although, I love Saxon's way of describing the stones as a 'screamer', so I'm definitely borrowing that on a permanent basis 🤣

I have been absolutely binge watching your videos since I found them! I have always loved opals, but never really knew anything about them. I have learned so much!! What gorgeous gems! The colors and play of color are fabulous, and much more varied than I thought was possible. I had a small Australian opal once, and it was destroyed accidentally. It still breaks my heart, 30 years later. My husband was USAF, had the chance to go to Northern Territory, and brought it to Guam for me. You all are truly gifted in what you do, and Justin, you are just nutty enough to fit in my crowd! 😉😆😆💕

That last one - my heart was in my mouth with the colour layer being so thin, but you nailed it. What a batch of lovely little stones, and not a dud among them.

I fear I will never catch you live (too early in the morning in Austria! 😂) but I love watching you bringing out the most possible beauty in the parcels later on in the day! Sigh - soooo gorgeous! ❤ Would you also sell the one with the cracks, sand and potch - I really loved the colours and wouldn't want to see it got waste!? Have a good week, you all! 🥰

They were beautiful ❤ Top questions too. I read a story of an opal ring kept in a vault for many long years. Then the owner went to bank to empty thier box & the opal had disintegrated in the extreme cold leaving only the setting.

believe it or not I did have some luck with that Ethiopian opal, you just have to polish it really well 14k grit or higher and then place it in a plastic bag to dry slowly over about a week. No dust no fuss ;) It's definitely far from my favorite though lol. Australian opal all the way!!!!

I cut a parcel of a dozen or so Coober Pedy white opals many years ago, some were set aside in individual gem papers. 15 years later one of them about 25 mm. across was checkered with cracks, the only Australian opal I've seen do that.

Its hurt breaking when you chase perfection. Some pieces are perfect within their imperfections...I think you took too much off losing the red but you did your best trying for a profitable gem...

Beautiful Justin! I just cut a GORGEOUS 2 sided 1 carat semi-black from Lightning Ridge. Different patterns on each side. Curious what that would do to the value. One side with pinfire, Chaff, and a hint of straw. the other side with broadflash and feather. Cut is clean, not one inclusion. Would love to send pictures if you’d like to take a look!
