Thanks to the patient. He was very professional and respectful of the docs, and really helped them explain things through (and asked some good questions).
@Neck Man they are not fully safe, but when you lower the dose it's absolutely safe(1mg for 3days a week).People who take it everyday usually encounter sides.
Vignesh Light they’re not full proof, just like LITERALLY EVERY DRUG on the market, no drug is 100% safe. But studies by actual DOCTORS AND SCIENTISTS have shown its safe for 98% of people and the ones who to get sides, can discontinue and will recover. But apparently all these studies are wrong because Neck Man said so...
YouCanDoIt I know that but myself along with many others would also like to see someone younger as most of the time it effects those guys mentally the most
Guys, to have both doctors to review a patient live and teach the masses about hair loss and treatments specific to this particular situation has been immensely informative. Thank you both and your teams in doing this - its been a big personal help for myself.
@@MajinVegeta1985 I take 1mg daily for the past 6 months (no minoxidil) before I go to bed. I haven't noticed any sides at all, no noticeable hairloss in the shower and have actually seen some hair on my temples that I was so concerned about before. I caught my hairloss early on though and changed my diet and also started exercising daily, my diet was complete garbage before
Can you make a video on scalp management?Psoriasis, flakey, dry scalp etc. And how to have the optimal scalp to give great hair growth. I think that would be great as it a big part of hair loss but not too much on the subject
You guys are amazing with the amount of information you so generously share with us without asking for anything in return. I don't know how you don't have a million subscribers by now. The next time I am in Sydney I will pay for a consultation with you as a thank you, but obviously will benefit from your assessment.
I just love these guys. They are so honest and don't mess about. They seem to genuinely care. They give a personal and practical attitude towards resolving hair loss problems.
That's correct. More scalp inflammation more hair loss. But I also notice less face breakouts more scalp inflammation. As I age from early 20s I have less facial breakouts but more breakouts on my scalp and back. Surgery is painful and daunting but it's something I might have to look at.
can I make topical Finasterid on my own? If I use 1mg finasterid and crush it into small powder. And add it to 1ml minoxidil solution? (so the concentration become 0.1 percent right? Minoxil contains ethanol So I was thinking if I use that as transporter into skin.
Hi , please guys hit like so they can see my questions .. I really wanna thank you about this wonderful show , I really want to ask you a favour , can you add like 5 minutes of this show to answer the questions in the comments below , I found some interesting questions , sadly with on answer , and i have some questions I would be glad if answered me .. 1 / a lot of doctors prescribing biotin 10,000 mcg daily for hair loss , is it any effective ? 2 / does the topical lotions that comes in ampules for hair loss really work there’s many brand names “ vichy , phyto , acrinal ..” 3 / can i use dermapen to stimulate hair growth ? Thank you for your time
Thank you for your great information. I have been watching most of your videos. I must say I wish I paid more attention sooner, I am one of those who can be impatient with products. This time I have set my self a new commitment. I am starting a regaine journey and see what will happen every 6 months as you have advised. Good luck 🤞🏼 😉 to me.
Hey guys, glad the dynamic duo has reunited. I have a question about hair regrowth through minoxidil and finasteride--is it true that the faster it took to lose your hair, the faster it will be to grow it back through min/fin as opposed to someone who took longer to lose their hair? To put it in other words, if a 21 year old guy had quickly progressed to a norwood 3 in the span of three years and a 51 year old had slowly progressed to a norwood 3 in the span of 17 years, would the younger guy grow his hair back faster and more effectively through said treatments? Thanks, looking forward to more vids in the future. Keep up the quality content.
Theoretically, the less time that has passed, the more likely it is to be able to revive those follicles. Lots of reasons behind this that I’m too lazy to type out.
What matters is the condition of the hairs that are getting weaker. If you have more a sort of area that is diffuse, then it will help more than if you are a guy that has a strong hairline that is receiding, because that means all the hairs in front are basically dead and the other hairs are relatively strong. So hairs that are halfway 'dead' (thinner, fragile but still there) visually benefit the most in terms of progress that you can make. The hairs that are strong will not weaken as soon because of it, but that is of course not going to be a visual improvement right away. If you are a norwood 3 and you still have miniature hairs that can benefit , then that's going to determine if it's going to improve a lot
@@JustPlaqohh yes the ages 23-28 i was a nw3. Then i began another aggressive hairloss at age 29. I started the pill and been on it for a year now. Of course during the 6 years my hair thinned a little on the top but the hairline was the same
There are studies that compared different dosages and what was found is that there are diminishing returns with higher dosing. The exponential curve starts to flatten off at 1 mg. However, 0.5mg blocks about 80% or so (lookup the exact number) of what 1mg blocks for half the amount of drug.
Thanks guys, I am just somewhat worried I am somehow messing up my hair by continuing this schedule..however after watching all their videos taking 1mg just appears too be quite risky and unnecessary..🤔
Could you please clarify something for me. You've said that if a hair follicle is less than 50% in size it can't be revived, but I've seen pictures where people grow hair where there was no hair before, how is that possible if the hair thats less than 50% in size of a healthy hair can't be revived?
My main question is: How do ppl measure improvement / status? I find it extremely hard because it feels different according to day/haircut/season whatnot. How do ppl measure whether or not finasteride works?
I'd say by focusing on the areas which are more susceptible of suffering hair loss. Crown, temples and general density on top, and checking if the roots look healthy, the space between follicular units, the way light goes through the hair, the way water makes the hair looks... there are plenty of methods and it's all about analyzing patterns. I realized my temples were going weaker just by watching the length of the hair, the way it grew the way it filtered light.
One of my biggest question regarding the hair loss : People who suffer from androgenetic alopecia are their hair prone to DHT because of their genes or is it there body is producing too much of DHT ?.... I mean people who don't go through androgenetic alopecia can we say that their bodies don't produce that much amount of DHT as compared to people going through androgenetic alopecia OR is it just every male's hair in this world is prone to too much of DHT ? In simple words does "genes" contribute to the factor of producing more DHT or does it contribute towards weakening of hair follicles due to presence of DHT in one's body ?
It can be both, generally the genes themselves determine how much sensitive follicles will be to DHT so for example if you are very prone to it, you will lose hair even with very low DHT. Some people can have high DHT but their hair wont fall out because they just dont have the gene for it.
Well, ats least as big groups there seems to be a pattern. The same group of people who usually have thick beards are the same that seem to loose it the fastest. So for example, arab guys seem very prhone to hair loss and pretty much always have thick beards, whereas native american have one of the least hairloss in the world, but also one of the least amount of beard growth. The same is true for asians. They have less beard growth, but also less balding than whites. When guys bald, usually they get more body hair too. So the guys with hair all over their backs are often the ones who bald the more. Anyway, these are just some broad patterns and of course do not automatically apply to any individual. (Both hair loss and DHT are said to be correlated to hair loss and beard growth)
I to brother Marcus looket into therapy at 28, but did nothing about it until my age 34_and at 34 i i take .finesteride,my one and only f.u.e and, shampoos, on a everyday basis. the Dr who gave you a prescription for finesteride didna good job. I never got on finesteride until I did the procedure and my hair was not looking good at that time either. My 2different analogys or consultations from 2014- and from 2020_were completely different -(double the graphs)were needed to be placed.- I want to keep my hair as it is now... I'm not taking it lightly. So i take a lot of suggestions. Thanks for sharing Dr's and brother Marcus
That would be great. I do think it would be useful. That said, I know that hair loss in women is a very emotionally wrought issue. As such, it's a hard ask for someone to present this on a video format.
Hi, great show. Quick question - I started taking finasteride 1mg, 3 times per week about 2 months ago. i recently started getting quite frequent heart palpations. Is this a know side effect? Should I stop taking Finasteride? thanks
Finally back, great. I have a question, would be great if you could help. Is it necessary to use a condom when taking finasteride? My girlfriend is taking the pill of course (and when trying to get her pregnant I would take a break from finasteride) but what about now. I did not find anything about that online. Thank you
I’m a medical student , as i know if u don’t wanna kids right now , you have to use condoms and oral contraceptives for your girlfriend even if your on finasteride .
I'd highly appreciate if you can elaborate on the neurological side effects. We often hear the sexual sides can subside with continuation, but what about the mental ones? To clarify, I started taking Finasteride 3 days a week for one month so far, and honestly, my mental state just isn't the same. I feel anxious, neurotic, and depressed. My sexual issues also worsened (i.e. low libido, little to no erection, etc.) Note: I had been diagnosed with depression in 2014 and take 25mg Anafranil (Chlomipramine) once a day since. Please advise. Thanks.
@@Namanop77 The side effects did not go away with continuation so I stopped it altogether after five months of usage. Three months after quitting, the neurological sides are gone but not the sexual. Although there's an improvement in both my erections and libido, it's nowhere close to what it used to be. Not sure what's exactly wrong but I can definitely tell something's different. I hope things will get better with time.
@@Namanop77 I personally did. After one to two weeks of quitting, I started feeling noticeably better. It's been three months since quitting and now I'm 100% back to normal, mentally. I know some people might say the neurological sides are "all in my head" but I can tell for sure it wasn't, so I feel you. I only use Minoxidil 5% now, which is much more tolerable with good results. Looks like Finasteride isn't suitable for me. I hope you get better, dear. Let me know if you have any questions.
a video of yours opinions on the cloning of follicles, How would you (the doctors) work if that technology existed (since you would not have to worry about having limited follicles) and your concerns if we had this technology good video by the way!
Hey docs, would taking an estrogen blocker, like DIM for example, be a good idea when taking finasteride? It seems like some people reduce side effects simply by lowering estrogen levels
Do not take anything without proper blood work. uf estrogen levels are not in the normal range then you will experience worst side effects. test for testosterone total and free, estradiol, shbg, dht prior to starting finasteride. and consult a dermatologist and a endocrinologist if you are afraid of side effects
Hi guys, great video! just wondering with the hair shaft in male pattern baldness.... How can you *tell* whether the hair is *past* 50%. (In relation to improvement with finasteride) Is there a way to tell yourself? Thanks
Most of your patients seem to be all quite young...? ( well under 40) I’m nearly 41 years old at a Norwood 2.5 and noticing thinning on top now so I’ve just started taking finasteride 1mg everyday. Does finasteride still work well in older patients 40+ or am I wasting my time? I’m hoping to at least preserve what I have and guessing it’ll work but I’d appreciate any advice. Thanks
SE VE QUE ES MUY. INTERESANTE QUISIERA SABER DE QUE SE TRATA SE QUE ES UN COMENTARIO DEL CABELLO PERO NO ENTIENDO NADA PORQUE NO SE INGLES PODRAN HACERLO TAMBIEN EN ESPAÑOL POR FAVOR?? GRACIAS
You keep saying finasteride can be taken 3 times a week, what about 2.5% liposomal topical finasteride ? Also do you know if finasteride can give you more vivid dreams?
I have started Finasteride three months ago. Hairloss is stabilized but I still shed some hair, most of them are miniaturized and some healthy ones. My question which you haven't talked about is, what about hair that is healthy half down and has a thin end? Will regrow all healthy? I have thousands of them , and you have said in previous podcasts that if they haven't reached 50% thinness they should grow back healthy. Usually when you start Finasteride your hair shed alot but most of these haven't yet. Will they shed over time when their cycle ends and grow back healthy?
Which magnifying device do you use ? Would you mind sharing any details? Most of them I have seen have a much higher magnification which is actually not useful. 50x would be just about right.
No, we have study with 5 times stronger DUTASTERIDE dose. (2,5mg) for few months and it did not affect a gram of muscle...chill. It has no effect on skeletal muscle.
Hello, I’d be really interested in seeing a video about the affects of trichotillomania on the scalp and hair follicles. It is an issue that sufferers deal with over long periods of time and I have always been cautious of the long term damage I have done to my own head through 15+ years of hair playing, and on and off very focused pulling when I was younger. What treatment options are there for areas of patchy spots and weak hair I have left myself with. Of course the main issue is the hair pulling itself which is an issue better dealt with through therapy etc but I’m interested to know your thoughts on minoxidil on damaged areas?
I am seeing a dramatic thinning of my hair density all over my head, including the back of my head, the area over my ears as well as my sideburns. I noticed the change within a 3 month period, but I do not remember excessive hair shedding. I also had a lot of itchiness, burning sensation all over my head, acne on the base of my hairs and some kind of occasional thick, large, scab-like dandruff. All my blood tests have come completely normal, including thyreoid hormones. Could this be the so-called DUPA or can it be something more serious?
@@amank188 After getting a biopsy done, there was no pathogen (lichen, bacteria, malassezia etc.) but it showed I had dermatitis and sucbcutaneous neutrophil concentration. I had also done two times a cultivation from the small pimples on my scalp but there was no staphylococci present. Anyways, a skin swab after 20 days of cultivation confirmed that I had staphylococcus aureus in the areas where the skin was damaged. I have been taking vibramicin 100 mg twice per day, use a topical antibacterial lotion and washing my hair with betadine shampoo and ketaconazole shampoo twice per day, letting it rest 10 mins before washing it out. The redness and itching is slowly going away and I am seeing less and less pimples each day (they don't get crusted as well).
I'm on finasteride as well for 40 days approx. My experience so far. My sperm quality if I were to rate it is less than 50% and it's more watery. I feel more lethargic during the day and need to sleep more often as the gent here. My erections are still okay, maybe even harder I'd say. But only one per day so it's reduced if I were to say. Has anyone been lethargic as well? I feel sleepy quite a lot.
What's the best way to use derma rolling and minoxdil ? Back to back or should I use derma rolling in the morning and minoxdil at night. I heard back to back can decrease efficacy of derma rolling and higher chance of side effects for minoxdil.
I'm 54 years old, I shaved my head (as we're in lock-down) and noticed, the hair on top of my head isn't as dense as the sides. Looking back at pictures, I've probably been losing hair for 10 years - appears to be a slow process. Furthermore, the hairs on top took nearly three months to fill in whereas the sides and back grew in fairly quick. Given my age, does it make sense to try finasteride (the does every other day)?
@@timjones5631 when you're young things do not seem to be bad when you're older..but when you actually are that age, things pretty much feel the same way
Hello , when you stopped using the minoxidil and continuing to finasteride did you notice shedding ? I mean ,does it benefit to continue on finasteride alone?
Hello Doctor, I had been using Finasteride for 2 years with barely any improvement, my hair loss continued. Now, I'm on Dutasteride 0.5 daily along with topical Minoxidil. Do you think oral Minoxidil would work better for me instead?
Oral minoxidil is never recommended due to its use not being approved for treating hair loss. Anecdotal evidence I’ve heard has shown that oral minoxidil has high risks and messing with your cardiovascular system is not worth the results, that’s affecting your vitality. Instead, I would add microneedling to your regimen which has been shown to increase minoxidil’s effectiveness in regrowing hair. If that’s not enough, the doctors won’t recommend this but ru58841 is worth looking into.
Can you make a video on what we could use daily at a low cost to rebuild hair. And quick tips we should be doing everyday to prevent hair loss l. Example drink more water or something. If it works I would like to know. Thanks. Also do you think wearing a durag every night is making my lose hair?
