My theory is that this guy was having a bad time but he finally caught a break with that job he landed, so he got like a rush of motivation and he decided to gamble everything and go all out trying to see if he could get away with shoplifting, that way he'd know 100% he could get away with anything and win in real life. Sure, he just made the case against himself. He admitted he went into the store with the intent to steal. That's burglary. He'll get time if/when he appears in court. If he'd said he only decided to steal after he was in the store - or if he would have _remained silent,_ he'd only be charged with shoplifting. Getting arrested is not that bad. Getting convicted of a crime is. *Never talk to the police* Your defense attorney will thank you.
