I am 23 years old, studied in south korea for a year 2019-2020 then came back to my home country (uzbekistan) due to pandemic situation, then took a gap year, later i started to restudy in my home country as a first year student. Recently i had my j1 interview, for the w&t program. everything went well, tried to give more detailed answers for questions, but i got refused. Trying to reapply for interview. Earlier I have applied for tourism and currently I applied through TECCI ( chambers of commerce) As I’m into business providing services to cement plants in India with 200 employees under my company During my Recent interview on March 10-3-2023 .. I answered all my Questions but failed to provide my company bank statement. I just got my B1/B2 visa appointment denied yesterday. I've been asked "Do you have any family members?" Officer didn't mention in US or in my country. My family members is in my country so I also didn't mention in my home country or US. I answered "Yes, I have a mother and a brother" after that answer it took around 5 seconds for officer refused to me. Was that a trick question? And I didn't ask for a translator and during in English I got a bit nervous. So using translator increase or decrease the chances of getting visa approved? And after refusal, what period of time is correct to let pass and re-apply again?

I was refused a visa before, in Spring Semester. Now I'm going for the second time soon. My i20 states that I was awarded an in-state tuition and fees , with additional of $1000 scholarship.
