Words cant describe Bobby Darrin..He was just Boby....Its really too bad that some of these wonderful people never thought highly of themselves..such low self esteem..If only they could have stepped out of the box and watched themselves and their fans....he will always live in our hearts
when ALL is considered ... singing ... composing ... writing ... (Come September, Funny What a Love Can Do, Dream Lover, That Funny Feeling, Splish Splash< etc.), ... pop, country, swing, jazz, musical talent, (piano, drums, harmonica, etc.), physical moves and stage presence, is there really any debate about Darin or Sinatra as to who had the most talent?
It is a shame, in a way, that Darin and Sinatra never performed on the same stage together. After all, they sang some of the same songs and worked with some of the same people (Darin was obviously influenced by Sinatra in the beginning), so it would not have been out of the question. Elvis appeared with Sinatra on a special TV show in 1960. Just a bit of a surprise, given the amount of times the two appeared separately on various programs in the 1960s.
I've got you under my skin. I've got you deep in the heart of me. So deep in my heart that you're really a part of me. I've got you under my skin. I'd tried so not to give in. I said to myself: this affair never will go so well. But why should I try to resist when, baby, I know down well I've got you under my skin? I'd sacrifice anything come what might For the sake of havin' you near In spite of a warnin' voice that comes in the night And repeats in my ear: Don't you know, you fool, you never can win? Use your mentality, wake up to reality. But each time that I do just the thought of you Makes me stop before I begin Cause I've got you under my skin. I would sacrifice anything come what might For the sake of havin' you near In spite of the warning voice that comes in the night And repeats, in my ear: Don't you know, you fool, ain't no chance to win Why not use your mentality, get up, wake up to reality? And each time I do just the thought of you Makes me stop just before I begin Cause I've got you under my skin. And I like you under my skin.
Wouldn't really call this a Motown version. This is very much a boogaloo/soul type of arrangement. And he also straight up says in the beginning "can you boogaloo?". It's very groovy and danceable. A very contemporary arrangement for the time.
@@BennyMax37 Sinatra sang and made some decent films, of course he also knew how to hold a glass of whiskey very well and was able to exploit the help of his mafia friends. Bobby Darin was a composer, musician and played piano, guitar, xylophone, drums and harmonica, singer with an incredible vocal range, despite having a devastated heart he kept the notes long like no other, songwriter, comedian and dramatic actor, excellent dancer, brilliant entertainer, impressionist, gifted with an extraordinary natural sense of humor, with an IQ above average in fact he was a member of Mensa, chess player, actively engaged against war, racism, exploitation of child labor. What should he have learned from Sinatra? Darin had already outclassed Sinatra's appearances at the Copa, Sinatra was greatly overrated; Darin's untimely death was his luck.
