Hi Ben thank you so much for doing these videos so excited to learn as you do more of these. Can I request you to upload a short video or photo of all the plants you will be pruning in this series once they start flowering in spring/summer time please. I think it would be useful for beginners to see the result and feel more confident when pruning. Thank you!

Hello Ben, Can you please advise me if Benjamin Brittin and Silas Marnar are rounded or more upright growing shrubs. I was planning on planting them near my black diamond crepe myrtle trees in boarders. Any thoughts? Thanks so much in advance ☺

Thank you for your comment. I can confirm that Benjamin Britain is a smaller more compact round shape Bush, reaching very reliably 3’ x 3’ over time Silas Marner is much more upright producing long slender canes reaching up to around 3 1/2 to 4 feet, but in my growing experience, so far with this plant is much more upright, and doesn’t produce much width

Hi Ben! Thank you so much for the informative video! I would like to ask you something about the pruning. Do you think it matters at what angle you do the pruning cut? I have seen some people do it horizontally across the stem and others at 45 degree. In your experience which one is better for pruning roses? Thank you 🙂

You’re correct lots of people will tell you to do it at 45° angles. This does allow water to run away from the cut. Quite honestly having pruned tens of thousands of Roses. The most important thing is that your pruners are sharp and cut is clean. And that you select a strong outward facing the Budd.
