Just as the main embellishment in creation is awareness, thus, before all movement or thought such as anger, beforehand is that of consciousness which is the calm before everything. As before you move, Or before you think, It is consciousness alone, That is the witnessing link. Know that alone to be Brahman.
Pranam Guruji. Your answer to first question regarding whether samadhi leads to enlightenment slightly confusing. I am a yoga practioner studied yoga sutras and practice asampranja samadhi. Yoga sutra says meditaion removes vasanas, impression and ignorance. Meditation leads to samadhi. The knowledge getting after samadhi is true knowledge because its not the knowledge got through sense organs. Knowledge after removal of ignorance gives us our true knowledge. Getting true knowledge is enlightenment. My experience is samadhi leads to removal of all vasanas and ignorance and only one vasana left that is study of scriptures.
We have to go to the beginning which is creation, before that is beginningless and of that is consciousness itself. That is Brahman(consciousness) Creation is Isvara(appearances). To see the imperishable,unchanging and the real within is that of consciousness itself. That also being the source of life is Existence alone where Isvara is present of all visible beings, teaching of the divine which is within, bringing you back to Brahman. (The heart of wholeness)
