Well then, my first roaming hunt and what a way to star! My aim in 2018 is to get at least 5 Roaming Pokemon across Gen 2 to 4. The Platinum Kanto Bird Roamers are arguably one of the easiest roaming hunts out there as you have 3 x 1/8192 per reset (not 3/8192, no). That said, this hunt is still quite challenging as more often than not I’d find myself stuck trying to find the last remaining bird.
I’ll be honest here, I wanted Moltres but I’m happy with Zapdos, more than happy. I may actually do another phase for this eventually as I have several Platinum copies available. Who knows!
I failed to mention this in the video but I want to give huge credit to Brooke from the ShinyTwins who hunted this way a few years ago. She ended up getting Articuno and I think I might have watched that video about 50 times, minimum. Thank you friend!

Sorry if you have already been asked this but once you get one shiny and KOed the others can you beat the E4 and then hunt for one of the other 2? I wanna do this hunt for all 3 but don't wanna just catch one and then not be able to get the others

Hello! Yes, you can hunt all three in the same save file by doing exactly what you said, defeating the Elite Four. In fact, it's faster than the first time because you're not being given the Upgrade by Prok.Oak. I'm already hunting for another Roaming Kanto Bird and will do the same by KOing the next one. Good luck if you decide to hunt them.

@@magronorph5029 No, that's wrong. It will still be shiny even if you reset over your first encounter with it. The shininess is decided upon activating the event that makes them start roaming.

Nice, I've played through emerald without saving or turning off the game until I got to requaza and he was Shiney rite off the bat, I was so happy he was adamant nature too, his lvl 100 Atk was 399, I never lost a single double battle with his dragon dance and togikiss's follow me....

I love the fact that when it's shiny you can run and it will be shiny again, makes it easier to catch right? These birds are a pain in the ass to catch too, i caught all of them today in platinum and i took so long, i did it without mean look though

You should go for Mesprit or Cresselia next (Cress is easier in Diamond and Pearl because you can fly off of the Island, in Platinum you need to take the boat back before you can fly)

Will it work if you encounter the Pokemon, run away, route reset until the next bird bird comes. If the first two aren't shiny just encounter the third then soft reset because I want to catch the other birds, doesn't matter if shiny or not

The only pokemon game to have 5 roaming pokemon is platinum. Good luck getting the other 4 to be shiny, but you do need to trade them over and make a new game for each shiny except mesprit and cresselia.

Actually you don't, you can hunt all 5 in the same save file. The Bird Roamers respawn after you beat the Elite 4 and can be hunted again.

So that means if I defeat some of them, all I have to do is to rebattle the league and then I can shiny hunt the other roaming pokemon? That really makes it worth it, but there is only one masterball in the game, winning that other lottery masterball is very low chances it can happen unless I trade a masterball from other generation 4 games but the main problem is if I get unlucky catching them with the other balls and they end up struggling to death.

You can actually hunt them in the save you get the other in. All three, in fact. You need to beat the Elite 4 again and respeak to Professor Oak.

I mean, it depends on the Pokémon. Some Pokémon have shiny versions that look almost the same as their original sprite, but there's Pokémon that have really good shiny colors, like Rayquaza, who goes from traditional green to black, or Gyarados, who goes from Blue to a Red color.

Then the roamer would have been generated already and it can't be shiny as it's the same Pokemon. The generation point is the dialogue.

lol i have unlimitted gen 4 deoxy's cause i got the pkmn ranger guardian signs event, aswell as shaymin and manaphy. that game helped me out so much as i never bothered with main series game events till x and y. 0:53 you didnt change the date and are those cartridges reusable or 1 time use?

Because it's a roamer. It's always shiny. I wanted to see it sparkle a few times before I caught it. Not often you get sparkles on tap.

saving after you find it makes it so that it will always be a shiny Zapdos from now on every time you encounter it. Where as if you try to catch it when you first encounter it, if you mess something up (for example accidentally fainting it), it would be an irreversible mistake. The reason it stays shiny after you run from it is because the shiny gets determined as soon as you’re done talking to the professor and from that point and onwards all three birds are going to be the exact same generated Pokémon unless you reset to the point where you haven’t spoken to the professor in the house yet.

so basically the idea of it is as soon as you find the shiny roamer, you run and save. And now you will always encounter the exact same shiny Pokémon and if anything goes wrong while trying to catch it, you just reset the game and you get to encounter it and catch it again. You basically have infinite attempts so I would recommend not wasting your masterball on a roamer.

Is there any reason you used the deoxys for this hunt? Can the birds be hunted without having a deoxys?

I used it because it's super easy to KO the birds that aren't shiny. You could probably use a Slaking or something. Just got to make sure they OHKO them and they're not over the level of the birds.

@@Sonikks oh I see now. If the Pokémon in the front of my party is a higher level than the birds, I won’t be able to encounter them while repel is in use? So I need a level 60 or lower Pokémon that is also strong enough to 1 hit KO them just to make the hunt as quick as possible. Is that what it is?

omgg I’m an idiot but I get it now, if you don’t 1 hit KO them, they will run away. So it’s important to KO them in 1 shot in order to get rid of the non shiny and make sure you encounter a different bird on the same reset i finally understand now lol

Unfortunately not, sorry. The respawn is the frame after your game saves when you beat the Elite 4. You would have to defeat the Elite over and over each reset to spawn a new Latias. You're simply best to restart your game.

Actually you can get all three on the same save file. They each have their own generation frame. Once you have one bird, ko the others, beat the Elite 4 and they'll respawn from the same point when you speak to Oak. Get another bird and repeat for the final one. Incidentally I actually found Moltres shiny last night lol. Good timing on the comment. Check twitter. Video will be up later today probably.

Yeah, if you want to get all 3 shiny. Each time you find and catch one shiny, just beat the Elite 4 and return to Oak. It's pretty cool you can get all 3 in the same save file.
