This week the House of Commons will induct a record 335 new MPs, the largest number in modern history. The number is more than the 1945 record of 327 following an election, and that election was the first to take place in 10 years following World War II.
As well as the 335 new MPs, a further 15 people are returning to parliament after a gap in service, bringing the total number of those newly elected to 350.
In 1997 the intake was 257, and included MPs returning after a period of absence.
