I remember the first time I watched this trailer. I had never been more excited about Star Wars in my life. The movie came out and I loved it! But then the second movie came out... And then the third. I don’t understand why Disney didn’t map out a trilogy for what is probably the biggest franchise on the planet.
Honestly I thought the same after watching through it again now. I am the kind of person who could enjoy all the movies while still acknowledging what could have gone better and what really doesn't make sense whatsoever. But when I watch this trailer I think: wow every edited shot there just gives hope for so much and brings so much excitement to you. In general I love the: something is being done followed by an immediate emotion as a response (Kylo hitting smth with his lightsaber > Rey crying on the ground)
They should’ve made Finn the main character. An ex-Stormtrooper going against the first order and finding out he’s a Jedi would’ve been so much better than what we got.
Rey and Finn should've both been the main characters and both Jedi. Maybe one learns from Luke, one from Yoda, maybe together... but this series was meant to belong to both of them. An ex-Stormtrooper and an abandoned child becoming the last two Jedi....... and they should've been romantically together as well! But no. Rian Johnson turned Finn into a joke and Rey became a cliche that somehow got with the villain of the trilogy. Insane how bad the choices were after TFA, not to mention racist.
Jyn Erso because it’s just a bunch of dumb whores screaming. They have no idea what they’re watching. The same dumb idiots that Kathleen Kennedy attempted to make 3 films for and fucked over the real fans (generally people who were probably enjoying the trailer and not screaming). Yeah. At least The Mandalorian looks good and maybe the Obi Wan show as well.
It wasn't terrible. I thought the sequels were awesome personally. I still prefer the prequels by far but the sequels were the first I was old enough to experience in theaters which was a super cool experience
@@fuzzyotterpaws4395 the difference is that there would not be star wars as we know it without the original trilogy of course but also without the prequels, they brought the whole Anakin arc / legendary musics / expension of the universe and cyberpunk vibe ( coruscant etc, remember the OG trilogy the planets are basically deserts ) But the sequel didnt bring anything, it would be the same without them ( it would be better actually, since they tarnished the whole message of the first 6 movies and the chosen one prophecy )
@@fuzzyotterpaws4395 As someone who knew next to nothing about Star Wars, I remember getting so excited after seeing this trailer that I immediately went and binge watched the original trilogy. My thoughts? Very uneven. New Hope? Ok. Empire Strikes Back? Absolutely fantastic. Return of Jedi? At best average. Still, I moved on to the prequels and gave up 30min into Episode I. Then finally saw Force Awakens at the theatre and really enjoyed it. Kinda of a much better version of New Hope. Saw Last Jedi couple years after and was pretty disappointed, so much that I have yet to see Rise of SW. In between that, I did see Rogue One and was absolutely blown away. Now that was a great, great film! So yeah, saw 7 of the 9, two masterpieces, one pretty good, two ok/average and two really bad. I'd like to say that overall Space Wars is a bit overrated but its cultural impact has been so profound and long lasting it wouldn't be a fair statement to make.
Man this gets me depressed. The hype was so real. This movie set up something with so much potential. Sadly I’ve never been so disappointed in a movie after watch The Last Jedi. Absolute waste of using the OG crew.
I liked 7, it was one of my favorite films in the series. I dislike 8 all together because of the awful writing and grueling pace. I enjoyed 9 more than 8, but I don’t think it’s good.
@@gameman5804 I thought 7 was much better than 8 and 9, but then when you think of the whole Skywalker story and how 7 reflects from 6. The writing is extremely lazy, the term bigger is better is exactly what the writers were thinking. That's one big problem, but the biggest by far is how on earth has the First Order even been created. Realistically Luke would have never let any of that happen and Starkiller base and their fleets would have not been created within 30 years.
***** listen man. look at the comments for this video. half of them are "wah wah wah a guy holding a cellphone killed my parents this generation is DOOMED". gets hard to tell which one's real or not at some point
@Satired and bored Except it wasn't. It told a solid story and had some decent character development. Luke's sacrifice was one of the best Star Wars moments because of how it portrays Jedi's like how they actually are and not some warriors like the Prequels made them out to be. I will say that the humor was stupid and there are to many "surprises" in the movie. Other than that, it was pretty decent.
@@mynamedoesntfi--6161 Dude TLJ was horrendous. Force awakens was mediocre and basically just an introduction movie. They killed off Han Solo in TFA before he got to meet up with Luke. They couldn't even do FANSERVICE properly in the movies. What a horrendous horrible INSULT of a trilogy. I refuse to watch them again. I regret buying my 3 tickets and should've stopped after the first one.
@@paulfear7860 What? You can't even say why Last Jedi was so bad? Who cares if Han didn't meet up with Luke. We saw these 2 for 3 entire movies. Why do you need to see them for another? Also, these movies aren't even focused on these characters so why do you care whether the meet up or not? This isn't even a proper complaint. Looks like these "bad" movies are just bad because you wanted them to be a 1:1 remake of the Originals. This is new. New characters with new plots. You're not going to get much old in the new.
@I may have a small penis but, You probably have quite a few opinions about what's going on in the news cycle right now, but it's important to remember one thing: you're wrong. Here's why: To start, you're completely missing the point and everything you think is actually at odds with reality when you look at the data. In fact, you're nowhere close to being accurate. It's simple to understand when you stop for a second and actually look at the issues. Once you open your eyes, you'll see that you are wrong about each and every one of them. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. What aBouT tHis oTher tHinG I HeArd? No. If the past is any indication of the future, not only is there no chance that you'll be right, all science suggests that you will never even come close once in your lifetime. The only way you'll ever right is to repeat everything I say, word for word to every single person you know. Until then, you're wrong.
Big guy R4nd0m sm1le because 1. The trilogy sucked 2. Rey has no character development and she got powers without training 3. It had the worst ending in movie history, TROS was garbage
ChonkoBonko laughably true lmao What makes you actually think that Rey has character development? Because you said so? Sorry to burst your bubble but the reason the majority of Star Wars fans think that Rey had no character development is because she didn’t have any lmao
JMotion i don't get it why he had one before they were even released. maybe some sort of time traveller who wanted to experience the thrill while watching the trailer release again...😂
@@belzebub2352 to be fair, everyone I knew thought Finn was goin to be the main protagonist and be a Jedi. I mean bro is literally wielding a lightsaber in the last shot of the trailer. Now he’s just comic relief…
"Who are you?" "I am Rey Palpatine, rightful heir to the Galactic Empire, first of her name, ruler of the Galaxy, the last Jedi Knight of the Jedi Order."
The only problem I have with the Mandalorian is that they act like the Jedi are ancient when in that timeline when like 15 years before Jedi were all over the Galaxy, so it makes no sense to refer to the Jedi events as events that happened over 1000 years
That's exactly what you're doing by watching this video. Think about it. Somebody recorded this with a smartphone. Mindblowing isn't it? The uploader did the same thing as red beanie guy.
You know it’s a good trailer when it still can manage an excitingly unsettling emotions towards you even when you’ve watched the movie for times and the trailer itself has already been out for more than 2 years.
I remember almost tearing up watching this trailer. The excitement, the music, the nostalgic feelings. Once again, I could immerse myself into the Star Wars universe I loved back in the day. Now, I can confidently say that I absolutely. Fucking. Regret. All of that.
@@chewy99. noooo TFA was the best of all of them when it SHOULD have been the worst. Because it copied ANH, thats the ONLY thing that made it worth watching. TLJ had no direction, and TROS was simply trying to undo and explain what TLJ messed up. There was actually plot to go off of in TFA.
@@hazmatt3250 It’s called opinion. I have one, you have one. They are quite different. I think you are wrong, just as you have shown that you think I’m wrong. At least we can both agree that TFA was a copy of ANH.
I'm not even a sequel hater but this trailer really I think is my favorite single piece of work to come out of the Disney era. If I were to ever make a movie trailer ranking I could see this being a contender for #1.
There are only two things I fault this movie for: 1. Making Luke run away. 2. Regressing Han back to a smuggler. Otherwise, this movie is pretty inoffensive. Although the only characters I really liked from the movie were Finn and Kylo Ren, the other new characters still had a lot of potential.
@@LGmaxter171 well yea, it fallowed the same principle of the hero’s journey, it just fell apart cause they never build any substance in the story and character in the later movies
I remember watching the trailer, how many hopes I had about this new trilogy: - Would Rey be another reincarnation of the Force like Anakin was? Would Luke train her? - Would Finn be a Jedi? - Would Kylo be a good villain on par with Vader? - Would Snoke be Darth Plagueis? Disney: NOPE.
@@domcusco360 In my opinion it was a cheap copy of Vader that in the end is made good by Disney and the power of the script... But all opinions are valid.
The sequels aren't as bad as people make them seem honestly. Although i still prefer the prequels by far, I personally love the sequels. First ones I was old enough to experience in a theater! I don't get all the hate
I remember watching this trailer so many times when I was 15, being so hyped for the movie. Everyone at school was hyped for it, especially my theater class which consisted of all of us being huge Star Wars fans. When we weren’t memorizing lines or rehearsing scenes we’d be sharing theories and what we thought was going to happen in the movie. Ah those were the good days.
This was the first Star Wars movie I was old enough to see in theaters so it has a special place in my heart and I don't get all the sequel hate. I think the sequels are still good personally. I just like Star Wars for Star Wars and like all the content lol
@@jrus690 George Lucas ruined Return of the Jedi because he was busy making Lucasfilm and he hired a hack director who pretty much did not care. Lucas was there basically everyday for Empire Strikes Back and he was an excellent producer. I remember reading that Harrison Ford did not like how few “takes” the director was taking, i.e. he wasn’t satisfied about the acting. Lucas as producer on set is excellent, but as director he’s not.
Luke: “Where do you come from?” Rey: “nowhere” Luke: “have to come from somewhere” Rey: “I come from jakku” Luke: “well I guess that is nowhere” It’s something like that anyway
Back in the day I had high expectations for STAR WARS THE CLONE WARS that was real STAR WARS despite the The Clone Wars film didn't do well in the box office but the tv show it was awesome before it was canceled.
I honestly think that Star Wars shows can at least slightly redeem this trilogy, as TCW did the Prequels. Shows that make all the info dropped in these movies less overwhelming. Shows about Palpatine and his experiments, as well as his family, shows about the First Order and Snoke, and shows about the New Republic, that can tie everything into place much better. But one can only hope!
I love how they all cheer for rey in her mask, when they don't even know who she is yet but when vader's helmet it shown or when Han and Leia show up everyone is just silent. That just pisses me off lol
it is the equivalent of watching a movie, you don't yell and cheer during it - they were cheering because it signified the start of the trailer and everyone was excited to see it
Like what the first guy said, they were cheering because it was the start of the trailer and maybe not for vader and han and leif because they are so shocked
It fell barely a few steps from the horrible story in this movie. The "Somehow a storm-trooper brainwashed since his youth spontaneously spawning morals, to the magical girl abandoned in her childhood growing up poor and UNEDUCATED that can do everything needed for no reason at all while also knowing everything she needs to know the moment she needs it"...all the way down to Leia hugging Rey instead of Chewbacca when finding out Han died...and dont get me started on a planet sized death star that can shoot a beam that can split into 5 when they need to as they shoot it across the FUCKING GALAXY!...
the nostalgia of seeing this trailer in theaters for the first time was amazing don’t care what you think about the force awakens this trailer was great
Its not only the legendary status of the franchise which makes this movie special its more this fanbase, this audience, the excitement and the desire for a sequel to this immortal classic, this atmosphere is what its all about, watch it at least one time in your life between a die hard star wars crowd and you will enjoy it really much
It's almost impressive how badly they messed this up. The degree of difficulty in making this bad is greater than the degree of diffulty in making a good trilogy - yet they managed to somehow pull it off!
The Rise of Skywalker still astounds me to this day. How Disney managed to tick off literally everyone with that movie is genuinely impressive. Original trilogy fans hated it. Prequel fans hated it. The Last Jedi fans hated it, but the Last Jedi dissenters also hated it. People in my family who aren't even Star Wars fans hated it.
Dude it could've been the most legendary trilogy aside from the originals. It was all there, the original actors, the hype, the special effects, this trilogy was literally made for Disney, all they had to do was not be the biggest fcking morons on earth. And somehow, some way, they did worse than fck up... They godam massacred star wars.
