So sorry to hear that. If he hasn't yet, he needs to talk with his local law enforcement, file a report with the FTC, then reach out to his bank. It may be to late to get his money back, but they may be able to get the scammers account shut down. Be advised there are many who will reply to you claiming they can help. Please don't reply as they are scammers. The mods will remove their comment as soon as they can.

We need to take some personal responsibility and protect ourselves. The education is free to find easily and accessible using the smartphone glued to the palm of your hand all day long. Scammers are nothing new and they aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Stop waiting to be saved. And if you are particularly naive, greedy, gullible, manipulated or delusional enough to think a celebrity is in love with you and they need you to send them money for food or a taxi cab, then you’re better off staying off of the internet. I’m sorry that comes off as harsh but too many people expect to be protected and spoon fed information when it’s all available already. Go watch the channel catfished and see the kinds of scams people fall for and how obvious it really is. And you will also see that some people cannot be saved from themselves.

I think you forgot that we have elderly people who don't have anyone to inform them to protect themselves or cant even really understand how it can even be a scam. That's why it matters that we have protection from our country for people who cant protect themselves. My own grandmother was scammed and she would not listen to anyone who told her it was a scam because they really got into her head when she was in a vulnerable state. So nobody is asking to be spoon fed anything. I just want there to be some protection for them.

Then let's get rid of the fire department. Everyone must keep a long hose at the ready. 3. Finally, do we really need the army, navy, air force, etc.? What have they done for us lately? It's actually difficult for US law enforcement to do anything to scammers based in other countries, especially when the authorities in those other countries either are corrupt, or just don't care. To some extent, India feels these scammers are pumping their criminal proceeds into the Indian economy. Indian scammers spend their money in India, and are technically "employed". China only cares about scammers when they target people in the PRC. There are very few foreign governments that feel the "rich" American victims of these scams need to be protected from the citizens of their less developed countries.

@PlugInRides I do understand that but these scammers aren't just taking from the rich. Some elderly who are middle class save their whole lives just for it to be gone in a matter of seconds. Would just be nice to see our government trying to do something about it for those that can't protect themselves. The fact that youtubers are doing more to protect people from scammers then our own government speaks volumes. I've seen scammers get arrested in other countries so it's not completely out of the question. Even if they don't get arrested they could easily stop packages or money transfers just by listening in and making some phone calls.

The rant to a scammer was in response to a reply to my original comment, the scammer has since removed his or hers response. Just wanted to clarify that with everyone so you don’t think I’ve gone crackers.

We know not all indians are like this. In fact, I'm betting they are the minority of indians. I work remotely with Indian colleagues and they are by far the best people I've ever known. Very hard workers, super polite and just DECENT PEOPLE. Don't worry about it dude, we all know you guys rock

Why won't the Indian government and the Indian police do anything to stop it?

You need to take an active role as a citizen and bring light to law enforcement and government and pressure them into putting a stop to this. Most people in India probably don't even know this is going on so it stays under the radar, worse yet, if it is known and a blind eye is still the result.

@@danbhakta Believe me when I say us Indians are also fed up of these kind of scams, and we're very well aware of the extent to which these happen. What's scarier is that scammers are getting more and more innovative with their deception and the police and the govt still continues to be lackadaisical in their approach; and most of the times these scams are not treated with the same seriousness as other heinous crimes like murder, r**e, which gets more attention.

You should petition your government officials to do something about since the local police usually don't

@@RyzenFTW07 I think legitimate Indians suffer because of them as well. I have a Design Studio, selling real services and clients overseas don't trust Indians because of these scammers. It's really sad for other businesses who actually want to do business, no one talks about that here.

@@RyzenFTW07 And the reason for this, number one is unemployment, other major reason is weak cyber laws in the country. The police are either corrupt or use outdated methods to counter these things, major police reforms are pending in this country since forever.

That breaks my heart she committed suicide over a scam. May she rest in peace 🙏 😢
