Josh, I want to bring up something about amps. I’m a collector of 100 watt master volume tube amps. As you can imagine this is a pretty niche (and potentially insanely expensive) thing to collect, but it has caused me to have experiences that led to the formation of a philosophy: Not all gear is complementary. To break that down, I think that certain guitars will not sound good with certain types of pedals and/or certain types of amps, and the same can be said of pedals with amps and/or guitars. Now obviously all tone is subjective and it’s most important that the person making the sound likes the sound, but this leads me to a request: Can you do an episode on unexpectedly good combinations of gear? Thanks!

Cory Nagelberg THIS! I used a solid state amp for years and just recently got a tube amp. My EHX East River Drive sounds so much warmer with tubes. But oddly enough, delays and reverbs sometimes sound a little warmer in solid states to me.

Klon have very interesting clipping. Basicaly it is hard clipper, but there are 2 other feed forward branches, that have no clipping at all. Like soft clipper, but the other way around.

Loved the format and content of your episode and appreciate the links to different segments of the live vid. Q&A thumbs up, great choice of questions. Not a fan of weekly Live vids, but a few per year would be like New Pedal Day at home. Props to you & Nick for the excellent content, insight, performance, and production. Cool Show! Great to see so many pedals of various types and brands! You guys did a show about how you recorded your tunes you create to demo pedals, something like this format on that topic, showing even more in depth, using the pedals to record and mix with and more of the recording process, or something like that.

This live event was great! The more of the JHS show I get, the better. Not only was it a heaping dose, but the extra candid-ness was a treat. Oh, and top mounted all the way! I didn't even realize most JHS pedals were side mounted. I've got one that's top, and another that's side, so I figured the sidemount was the odd one out.

The DeArmond Square Wave, which is a close relative of the Distortion+ from what I've seen, should not be confused with the UNivox Square Wave, which is a silicon variant of the basic Fuzz Face design.

That Oberheim triggered a memory, in 1975 I breadboarded a little 9v pre-amp (tone bender?) from a magazine schematic and a friend installed it under the pickguard of his guitar. I thought everyone had an OR80 and a folded horn or something in the front room back then. Kids nowadays don't get to have fun do they?

All of your videos are so informative and entertaining. I enjoy the information you provide, the pedals you demo, and the sense of humor with which you deliver it all. On a less relevant note, you mentioned a new haircut you got went you went live with the Fuzz. Long hair is always appropriate in a rock situation, and I wouldn't have noticed it if you hadn't mentioned it. It always looks the same. In all seriousness, I 've learned a tremendous amount of info from your channel.

I like to have a combination of side mounted and top mounted jack's on pedals. I alternate them on my board so the patch cables fit nicely and it keeps everything tidy.

Great livestreams! Can you maybe make a video about what resources (like books etc) are great for starting out building guitar pedals? Im a beginning electrical engineer so probably some of them are familiar but im still really interested!
