I hope you also share this vid to ppl you know who has been struggling with rigging expressions!! Watch out for the Q&A stream that goes with this vid for channel members~ As always, resources are found in the description. Special thanks to Fukuyoru Luki and 2wintails for helping me review the script 💖
Took me several runs through but I think I finally get the toggle for facial parameters... thanks SO MUCH for this guide, I have no idea how I could have figured it out otherwise
I love your tutorials so much! Please keep doing them! I am currently trying my best to make myself a vtuber model but im really bad at it but these help me a TON
Thank you for your hard work, Kira! We appreciate the content you put out! Almost done with my own model with the help of your tutorials. I am very grateful.
my model has SO MANY LAYERS that I'm required to buy the license lmao it's cheaper to rig the model myself instead of paying someone to do it ...as far as I've understood. BUT thank you so much for this video Kira!! I would've felt like a drew those expression layers with wasted time if I hadn't found this (TTvTT)
Tysm for this tutorial I'm thinking of becoming a vtuber To be specific a Gacha Vtuber , i love all your tutorials it really helps me learn more in live2d ! As someone who honestly is not used to live2d yet
I hope you know, I love your tutorals and I come back to them over and over, and usually when I have a question, as long as I know what to look up, I can find it here. THANK YOU
And once again, Kira graces me with a video that although is outside what I do, is fun to watch and understand. Thank you so much for this and I hope you stay swell, local peach girl! :)
Some extra advice for toggles, if you want two toggles that will interact with one object group (such as angry / excited for mouth) you can reduce your parameter count by making a single expression parameter with a range of -1 to +1 and associating one emotion with -1, and a different one with +1. You can theoretically use a larger number range (such as -2 angry, -1 sad, 0 default, 1 excited) but this has the downside of the emote change flowing through -1 while to goes to -2. Then when setting expressions in the Live2d Viewer you just set the parameter to the appropriate value for each expression.
This will really help me with the technical side of things when I get to that stage, thanks! Especially the toggles since I'm trying to figure out making my model (or just parts of my model) transform. I'll definitely be revisiting this video a few times and checking out your other tutorial videos. :)
puh, that's a lot. There were many things I didn't understand yet, so I think I will take care of making more mouth shapes first and foremost. your mouth movements are very good!
Dear Kira Omori, Thank you so much for these videos of yours. I had rigged my own model and I know how to work on Live2d thanks to you! I am still in the road of learning! Thank you again~
OUR LIFE SAVER KIRA T_T would you ever do a tutorial on something like specific keyform activated motions? something like animal ear twitch only when eyeOpen = 0, something like that!
Hello Kira.. I'm new to live2d and your tutorials are very helpful. I have questions about expression. So if we have made parameters for eyebrows (sad and happy and normal), blinking, some mouth forms, is it necessary to make every single basic expressions into exp3 (i'm sorry if I spell it wrong) files? Like open eyes smile, half open eyes smile, closed eyes smile, then open eyes sad, etc? Or is it only necessary for adding expression such as in the case for the stickers?
“I wonder if you’ve done your homework” me, with 3 assignments due who knows when putting them off because this video seemed more interesting: *sweats nervously*
Waa thank you for the tutorial. I wanna ask, Anyone who can answer please dooo.... when I rig the stickers to make my models more expressive, it's all work, but when I Export it and open it on Live2D Viewer why tge sticker that I made still visible? And I cant make it Invisible even tho I do it the same as the tutorial (and many tutorial vid)
Thank youuuuuu for the tutorial! omg im strugglin' with the toggles! This is out of the tutorial topic but, what software did you use to display the keys u pressed?
Hi! Thank you so much for this tutorial. But I have a question how do we actually use the model? Like for stream or a RU-vid video. If you already went over that in a video, could you send the link?
Is the ctrl-shift-c and ctrl-shift-v "copy shape" and "paste shape?" when i try those hotkeys nothing happens at all ( i double-checked in settings to make sure they are assigned), do you have any idea on what I'm doing wrong? I went to .8 -> select -> ctrl-shift-c -> assign keyforms on half open -> ctrl-shift-v on "half open" parameter. but nothing gets assigned to it.
I just recently ended up in the VTuber rabbit hole and I draw as a hobby so I was thinking of doing an avatar. I don’t have a pc yet so I can’t check the program to answer some doubts that I have. I see everyone using a single file for rigging. I unfortunately only use procreate to draw (yeah, layers limit is a pain) so I was curious to know if it’s possible to import different files in a single project to use for the rigging. Also I used a 3kX3k for drawing and cutting the face, and a 5kx5k for the body. I’m curious to know if I can change the size of the face to fit on the body, keeping the quality (like when you se vectors). Thanks in advance
When you're showing how to open the model file at 9:55, on my computer it doesn't work. Windows is acting like I don't have the right app to open the file for some reason. Am I missing something that should come with Live2D (I have Pro)? Thank you for your amazing tutorials like always!
thank you for this video to help make a model but I will ask you where you got stickers and expressions 😅... Do we need to include drawing stickers and expressions for character design😍..so we can separate layers (PSD files)? or does lived2d cubism provide to add stickers or expressions?🤗... I'm very curious about it...
9:56 Help, I can't open this file! Windows is asking me what app I want to use to open it but I don't see the appropriate software for it??? I don't know what to do.
What should I do next then??? How can I import those expression into my model??? In face rig pls help I’m watching other tutorial but I didn’t work out for meeee
IF my model has already been rigged, but I'm not really happy with some of the expressions and want to edit them myself, does this tutorial still apply? Or is there a different tutorial I need to watch?
Does anyone know anyone I can commission for rigging? I already have my model and assets created (made them myself) but I'm not confident in my abilities to rig this, like at all.
Hey kira I really love your works! Theyre amazing❤ you really help my live2d project the rigging was great but when I import it to vtube studio and trying with the camera my avatar is jumpy(?) It zoom in and zoom out constantly whenever I move back and ford is that normal?
is it possible to make it so that one toggle has multiple toggle states? so for example : no scarf / scarf on / scarf pulled over mouth? Or would I have to do something along the line of having multiple toggles, and linking them in some way? so one changes transparency of the scarf, and the other changes the state of the scarf?
@@KiraOmori I *think* I figured out why- it's similar to when Draw Order/opacity params are greyed out- somewhere, a keyframe is yellow/not selected on a key point, so the copy wont work
3:06 YEAH YOU SHOULD PROBABLY CARE ABOUT THIS WARNING UH i fucked up my model so bad i had one too many deformers to too many parameters and it slowed the program down to almost a halt when i have a gaming computer. i had to reoptimize the whole model once i figured out what the problem was it was awful. saving took up to 5 minutes, copy/pasting/changing deformer sizes took up to a minute to register, and the physics menu was basically unusable because the preview was so laggy i couldnt see how well it was all moving please practice good optomizing when it comes to your deformers. if it starts getting past like 4 parameters, just nest another deformer onto the art mesh and dont be stupid like me
Thank you for bringing this up! I hope it's okay if I ask more questions :) What is your deformer count and maximum parameter assignment count? (You can access the deformer count in File > Model Statistics) How many toggle parameters do you have? Live2D version and computer specs? I'll also share mine: Deformer count: 185 Warp Deformers and 27 Rotation Deformers Maximum parameter assignment: 3, only one toggle param Live2D version: 4.0.09 Specs: Intel i5-9300H 16GB RAM NVDIA GeForce RTX 1650 I also have a commissioned model that has 200+ deformers, and 2 toggle params with a max of 4 parameter assignments. I usually only make 1-2 toggle parameters and I tend to make enough deformers so I can only assign 2 parameters max for things that aren't expressions. I also make sure that my division counts I use aren't excessive.
@@KiraOmori the model is ok now once i figured out what was wrong after getting some help from more experienced riggers. the problem was my ~30k deformer interpolations and ~100k artmesh interpolations, but to answer your question theres about ~40 warp deformers and ~60 art mesh's. its a pretty cartoony model, so its not very complicated to begin with. the most parameters to one deformer after fixing everything is a couple deformers with maybe 4 or 5 now. I had downloaded a bunch of different versions when i was still troubleshooting the problem, but im using the 4.1 beta. Here are the specs as well: intel core i7 3.70GHz 32GB RAM 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER I didn't mean to sound rude or anything, just wanted to tell my horror story and warn those who are still pretty new and learning, because before this model I really had no idea about the 3 parameters thing was best practice or how to optimize it and how important it was for idiots like me who are prone to making huge mistakes like this. I really do appreciate the tutorial though! I was looking for how to toggle between certain mouth shapes aside from the normal mouth forms that you've already talked about, it's very appreciated!
holy shit the interpolations are huge xD I don't think I have ever went past 2k interpolations and it's okay, I think it's important to bring this kinda thing up because I can't discuss everything in one video
yep!! I don't recommend making an overly complicated model though. I recommend doing a bust-up or half body to be really safe from deformer and parameter limits
