Liveaboard boaters in Miami Beach breathed a sigh of relief Monday night after a state Senate bill that would have limited anchoring within 200 yards of any part of Miami Beach, lying between State Road A1A and State Road 112 was amended.

Thank You for reporting the fact so all the residents can stay educated about the Biscayne Bay! Please let’s stop this harassment for the boaters! 🙏🏼⛵️

Comissioner David suarez
@alfredofernandez8036

Just let those boaters live in peace, they have been there since I can remember. Monitor the problem ones instead of making life impossible for all of them instead of the troublemakers which are a small percentage. Suarez is probably paid by developers. Old Miamians are having to leave town because of the overdevelopment being allowed by these politicians

The reason the anchors are dragging is because the city of Miami Beach outlaws mooring in Biscayne Bay. They force boaters to lay anchor which is naturally not as secure as a stationary mooring ball.

nobody is breathing a sigh of relief until David suarez just leaves the federal waterways alone. his complaints have all proved false. maybe us residents should go and do water tests in the canal when they are dumping excess city water??? this is such a charade

Having traveled through Miami Beach as a transient boater and anchoring for two days, I can say it’s among the least welcoming places I’ve ever stopped and tried to get groceries. This clown Suarez has been proven wrong, but I’ll agree that either a mooring field, or a boats must move every 5 days rule needs to be put in place.

Sad this leadership is not helping live aboard find a safe way o park their dinghy(water car) so they can get to work. Go after the irresponsible owners not good citizens that prefer to live on the water and not a cubical on land surrounded by walls and murders

In over 15 years of boating advocacy in Florida, this coverage by this channel is the only fair and honest reporting I've seen. Kudos to WPLG 10 for a superb job. Got the facts right, even the small details that matter. Amazing, isn't it? The two biggest complaints, dumping waste and harming seagrass, and the boaters are innocent in both cases. Makes you wonder what the city is trying to do to these boaters.

Put free mooring balls and provide services for boater. If the boater want to get their goat . Start planting grass and bring back the habitat first before the city or county take them to court and make a township in the water. Buy some land in the bay to provide a dingy area.and pump out station .Your gonna have to put you money together to fight them

Why doesn't commissioner Suarez worried about the boats that are speeding through here and causing speeding accidents crashing a boat into another boat jet skiers crashing into other boats why doesn't he stopped that instead of harassing us
@jul.escobar

The boaters have been there. This harassment occurs across the country. The rich don't want to look at others living out there. They want a pristine view and clear of the po folks. Even tho they were likely there first. The boaters aren't the ones wrecking the bay. Its just a distraction.

So the rich that live on those man made islands don’t want the boats there but the land that made the islands destroyed the bay ecosystem. Remove the homes on these dredged up island and put the material back where it came from.

While my heart bleeds for the boaters as much as it does for regular residents that don’t want them around my confusion is this: your house literally moves, why do you have to stay in the most expensive city in the world? There are countless more affordable places up and down the east coast to go to.
@russellprout723
@russellprout723 3 месяца назад
Many reasons why people may want to moor there eg job, family etc and live a different type of life. Obviously Miami only want show piece yachts in their bays even though the resident boaters are not polluting the area.

Can you explain the relation between a road side that had to be built by the city and therefore someone should pay for it, and the nature provided water and bay? Can you explain why we should pay for being in the nature please? Should we also add a tax for breathing you think?
