That was the Medlock pub Kirkdale when the guy rides past on his bike , I lived in the Owens Buildings just down the street from there being born in 1946. Those tenements were a great university of life. We would chop wood up and sell it for tuppence a bundle, also football matches between neighbouring blocks,,, just great times... mail me if you want to know any more stories of our activities .. John..
I grew up in the South end John, been in the Coffee cart many a time. Remember the hot ring Doughnuts, I can still smell and taste them now mate and I`m 61.
I was born 1971 in the Northeast of England when we were kids we had nothing threadbare carpets and second hand settee three channels on a itt telly whith a line down it because tube was on its way out but like I say to my three kids we had nothing but we were happier .😄
I've just been watching 'The Wackers' and there was a shot of 'The Coffee Cart' at the Pier Head in the 70's,god it brought back memories. I always remember the smell of doughnuts from one of the shops, and there used to be an old 'make your own record' machine round there too somewhere. Happy days.
Ha ha, as soon as i seen that shot the smell of those doughnuts filled my nostrils again. Our little gang used to go down there in the school holidays and buy them, still hot and covered with sugar. Happy days.
I lived in a street like that but before 1974..its not a typical street..a lot of these boarded up were for demolition.. a typical terraced street didnt have boarded up doors..as people were living there. Pity there wasnt sound ( super 8). You would hear a different scouse accent..less harsh..more Lancastrian.
