My mother is from Liverpool born in 1934. Enjoyed seeing film footage of my great-grandparents and grandparents era. I just have a few cousins left there. I've been to Liverpool several times always was treated very well. Scousers are some of the best people in the world. Later Gators from Tuscon AZ 85704.
nice...my grandparents immigrated from Finland via Hull to Liverpool and then Dominion Line ship S.S. Commonwealth, 1901 and 1902...so it was nice to get a glimpse of this city from that time!! thanks :)
This is Lime St in Liverpool in 1896, filmed by Alexandre Promio for the Lumiere Brothers, who released it in 1897. On the right is the spectacular St George's Hall, with the long gone St John's Church. On the left is Queens Arcade/St Georges Place. Older Liverpudlians will remember the famous 'Guinness Clock' which lit up Queens Arcade, along with all the other neon lights on the facades of the many hotels and restaurants. It was all demolished in the 70s for St John's Shopping Precinct.
Am I mistaken, that looks like its Captain Edward Smith of the Titanic at 4.23 - 4.24min. He did sail from Liverpool at the time?? I am sure its him. Anyone know?? If so this is important
What is the connection between Liverpool and the titel song from "Cheers"......surely some mistake "Ed" Z cars was a 60's programme! Who needs this awful irrelevant music?
