The Liverpudlian accent sounds like a cross between the dialects of Ireland and Wales, at least to my North American ears. The old New York accents were a mixture of Cockney and Irish. My grandparents had very heavy Brooklyn dialects and sounded a little bit like Paul and Ringo sometimes😊

It's a mixture of Lancashire & Irish ... Difficult to imitate. Only us native Scouser's can spot a fake Scouse accent.

Wow this is more interesting than the history lessons I had at school. The good ol' bygone days, a bit before my time, only a bit I may add😉

Hyperbole? "Most people were in a band". I remember it well. Traffic was stopped and most shops were shut because everyone was strumming and drumming away. The army had to be called in but it was too late; the whole city was taken over by the Merseybeat.

+lliambunter Miss Fontain, Wouldn't call him that to his face tho. Saw him in the Caledonian one night and he was dipping his comb into some guys pint and combing his hair. My girlfriend at the time couldn't take her eyes off him, had to tell her to stop staring or the both of us will get filled in. But the whole area was great. fond memories
