A lot of people are gonna blame the timing of Jurgen Klopp’s decision to leave Liverpool at the end of the season. This was his intention since November and the timing of it surprised everyone because Liverpool were flying and were top of the premier league table and at the time we all thought that they had a chance to win the premier league and also end the season with 2-3 trophies. You never really expected them to win the quadruple because winning 4 trophies in a season is so difficult as no team in English football has ever achieved this feat, their problems go beyond his announcement. Had the title been in Liverpool’s hands right now, nobody would be blaming Klopp for saying he’s leaving the club at the end of the season. First and foremost, Liverpool have been out of form for weeks now. Since losing the FA Cup quarterfinals to Manchester United, they’ve been off color and they haven’t played well. Even in the games they won, Brighton Sheffield United and Fulham they were never really in control and they looked far from their best. In other games where they lost and dropped points to: West Ham Manchester United Crystal Palace and Everton, they didn’t look good at all, they were mediocre and in front of goal with all of the chances that they had they were just wasteful and when you’re in a title race, the last thing a manager wants is for your attackers to be misfiring in front of goal and that has costed them a lot of points at such an important stage in the season. A brick wall would do better than their attackers to be honest. There’s been a noticeable trend surrounding Liverpool throughout the season and I think that some of their late game comebacks where would come from behind and win thanks to late game magic and 2nd half substitutions, they were papering over the cracks. We refer to Liverpool as “Mentality Monsters” and rightfully so because of their ability to not be phased by losing positions as they were able to find ways to come back and pick up points when they weren’t playing well as every time they conceded the first goal, you just knew that them being behind they were gonna come back to draw or win. At this stage of a season when you’re competing for the title and other trophies, it’s not sustainable I even said it a couple of months ago, they can’t keep relying on playing catch up and as we’ve seen against Atalanta Everton and Crystal Palace, it’s not working for Liverpool anymore once they fall behind they drop points and the subs aren’t making much of an impact. If you wanna talk about their attacking problems, what about Liverpool’s defense, 1 clean sheet in their last 13 games in all competitions meaning that at the other end they’re conceding goals due to their poor defense and their inability to start games off quickly which makes it easier for the team later in the game. It also doesn’t help that certain players are out of form. Mohamed Salah, the talisman of the team hasn’t looked the same since coming back from injury, Darwin Nunez has been hit and miss and it should be worrying that in a title race a 75 million striker hasn’t delivered when it matters most, Dominik Szoboszlai’s form has dipped, guys like Alexis Mac Allister and Endo looked fatigued, and Ibrahima Konate has looked poor of late too even though for most of the season along with Virgil Van Dijk he was playing well despite competition from Quansah. Trent Alexander Arnold has been off color since returning from injury same with Curtis Jones and you simply cannot rely on Diogo Jota because as much as they need him he’s a very good finisher, but he can’t stay fit. In most of their games, they’ve been on the wrong side of some referee decisions that’ve caused them to drop points, but that doesn’t mask Liverpool’s late season collapse. They’ve given everything and for the most part they’ve had a good season, but just crumbled when it mattered the most and this is what happened to Arsenal last season and other teams in general, Liverpool aren’t the only team.

After the League Cup win, I genuinely thought Liverpool will pull off the quadruple after coming so close two years ago but since they lost to us in the FA Cup, their season is imploding as we speak. They got smashed by Atalanta, drop more points in the Premier League and now officially out of the title race. They were in a dire situation of not winning any kind of trophies this season, despite having the prospect of winning the Quadruple, on her final season as Chelsea Women manager. They had just lost the League Cup Final to Arsenal, got knocked out by Manchester United in the FA Cup semifinal, and more recently, they were robbed against Barcelona Femeni in the Champions League semifinal, despite handing them their first home defeat in 5 years on the previous leg. Things even don't look good for Chelsea in WSL, as they were still behind Manchester City! In fact, we might witnessed a "bad ending" for both Klopp and Hayes this season, missing out any major trophies they needed for their "farewell parties".

At the end of February they were flying because they won the Carabao Cup, they were top of the premier league and they were in every competition. In the midst of this, they had so many injuries, yet were in contention to win a quadruple and Jurgen Klopp’s final season at Liverpool looked as if it would end on a high with even more silverware. In any season, you would be satisfied with winning the Carabao Cup, but Liverpool have bottled everything. They lost to a very weak Manchester United team in the FA Cup quarterfinals, knocked out of the Europa League by Atalanta after losing 3-0 in the first leg at Anfield and after being top of the premier league a couple of weeks ago, they’re out of the title race after winning 1 out of their last 5 league games. I honestly don’t blame Klopp for saying that he’s running out of energy and you can see why he needs a break. It’s honestly surprising how his fairytale season at Liverpool is ending in a whimper and talk about bottling it when it matters the most.
