Messi has completed football, he’s just doing the side quests in the twilight of his career now. Going back and playing in Argentina for his boyhood club would probably be the last thing to check off the list
It always makes me laugh how Gerrard seems to trigger rival fans. He wasn't a big head, if anything he's a bore, he won a few trophies, but not as many as others of that era, but for some reason there seems to be envy or bitterness towards him. Maybe it's the fact so many top players said he was the best midfielder of that era, or the comparisons with Lampard and Scholes riles fans of those clubs? The fact he still gets sung about shows how deep the trigger was. Hopeless manager but as a player he carried that team at times. I preferred King Kenny myself but the reactions to Gerrard do amuse me😄
He left Liverpool for the retirement league (MLS) a decade ago. Yet, people still harp on about him. That in itself speaks volumes. He was an immense player. Rival fans who are honest with themselves know that. But let their petty rivalry get in the way from admitting it.
@@matthewjamison I just don't get why they're so triggered by him at all? Like you say he retired years ago. It can only be because he was so good. I don't see Liverpool fans getting so triggered by Lampard, Keane, Scholes, I think they accept they were great players. He should take it as a compliment anyway!
@nonnayoubuzinnes1669 He doesn't care. His peers who he played with & against voted him into the PFA team of the year a record 8 times. Their opinion, along with Liverpool fans is the only opinion that matters to him.
That Q about if Son & Kane had moved much earlier. Answer would be Bale & Modric. And Kyle Walker too. Sol Campbell and many others. Or it could be Gazza going to Lazio
It's all about trophies in the end. You get a few enigmas, like Gerrard had such praise and was SO good and did win a CL that his lack of PL is forgiven and he's still a great. But the great players win the big trophies. PL & CL. Those are the two most valuable 'stats' you can have in club football. I think Kane will be remembered as a great the likes of Son maybe even Rashford will be slightly forgotten about as the game goes on. Son will become a real cult GREAT. Brought up on football twitter alot. Like a Barclays man.
Gary wondered why Gerrard fined lack of flip-flops in the shower, but for me it makes a whole lot of sense, simply because of the risk of spreading/getting fungus, which may convert into some serious injury, especially in case of a game of football.
Question….. why when taking corner kicks the vast area of the ball is outside the markers…?? Surely the outside of the ball should be next to the outside of the markers keeping the ball where it should be……??? Plus…. When taking free kicks especially when defenders hold a high line why don’t the defenders run forward before the ball is kicked making everyone off side…. I never see any team trying this, far easier than defending your goal….. mix it up surely …..?
@@andrewharrison7767 oh I see, the ball is round ??? Good god, does not matter if the ball is square, the ball should be INSIDE THE MARKINGS that’s why they are there….. watching these players gaining a few inches is pathetic…..
I think its a combination of seeing to what standard they are playing to, especially Salah and van dyke, and how much the new manager needs them/wants them. They will have to go on monster salaries and the later 2 are into their 30's now. Would it be better to invest in younger players specific to tje managers needs and lower saleries?
If u renew 2 and move one on then the one u move on has to be salah, it sounds mad cus he’s probably been our best player since he joined 7 years ago but Trent is still young, he makes the team tick and he’s a future captain and we don’t have a lot of centre backs right now like if van dijk leaves we have konate, quansah and gomez that’s it but if salah leaves we can play chiesa, elliott or gakpo/diaz there. I want all to be renewed ideally trent for 5+ years and the other 2 for 2/3 more years cus i think they’ll still be top players to have even at 35 they’ve got that mentality
Surely the new manager has to talk with players to understand what went wrong? I remember Mourinho asking a player at Tottenham why he wasn't being played, that's surely a question along similar lines?
Question. Always wanted to know why do teams from the first kickoff and 2nd half kickoff pass it back to the cb hes under no pressure and he will just boot the ball up towards the corner flag at no other time during the game will the cb do this they will keep it and build up play so doesnt it make sense to pass it back from a kickoff and keep hold of it rather than giving it to the opponent
Question for all of you: as footballers it's natural instinct to cushion something that has dropped near your feet. For example dropping a TV remote or one of the vegetables from the shopping. But have you ever or heard of anyone that injured themselves from trying to catch an object such as a knife or something equally as dangerous?
Wimbledon's goalkeeper Dave Beasant hurt himself quite bizarrely. During the 1993-94 season Beasant sustained an unusual injury when, while making a sandwich in his kitchen, he dropped a 2 kg glass bottle of salad cream on his foot, severing the tendon to his big toe. As a result, he missed eight weeks of the season.
Also how much would you get for trent in january, the fullbacks are not bei g asked to go forward as much as klopp which negates alot of trents abilities and £100+ mil would be handy to reinvest
Shearer conveniently overlooking the fact he was alongside Owen for Newcastle in his final season - 18 goals between them, Owen scored 7 in 11 Shearer 11 in 41. Owen's biggest issue was he just couldn't keep fit & lost 18 months to broken foot & knee ligaments
Respectfully disagree that all of the greatest players end up at the best clubs in the world. I wish they mentioned the only player in history regarded as the best player in the world, joining a club that just avoided relegation. The one and only, Diego Maradona joining the almost relegated Napoli in the best league in the world at the time. Within 2 years, they won the league for 1at time in their history and without many major stars.
In both 98&02 World Cup owen Was my Only English impression ❤ In Every big tournament games he gave them lead bt English football team failed to make that Count 😡😡
The other problem liverpool have, is allisons contract ends in 2025, so they either have to renew this season, or sell him. Otherwise, he will also go on a free
He's been getting more & more injuries the last couple of seasons. Hence why Liverpool have already bought their new No.1 (Mamardashmili) from Valencia for £30m & loaned him back for a year.
@@matthewjamison yeah I think that too, but you can’t let him go on a free. So that means he’ll be sold this year, potentially salah, Virgil, and Trent all gone as well (for free). That’s a massive change to the team
@@matthewjamison Alisson is finding it harder and harder to stay in shape. He's obviously a big man by nature, and apparently turns whale-like in the off-season
@@gusyonok9950 B.S, Liverpool wouldn't tolerate overweight players. Not just the club, but the squad itself. Alison is a consummate professional in everything he does. He's just been suffering more injuries as he gets older.
Saying Messi has the best retirement set up not really he left Barcelona and wasted so many years at psg and inter miami. The prefect retirement wouldve been at barca on top
@@Pumpypump you're acting as he was getting paid ten mil a week fam, one player's wages should not destroy a club as big as barca, Bartomeu was not handling the club's finances well
