Chelsea fan who went up to Liverpool for the w/end with 2 pals & went to the game. I hadn't been to Anfield since the 80's & was expecting some hostility from some fans as I know they hate Chelsea. Anyway, I couldn't have been more wrong, all 3 of us were taken aback by how friendly & welcoming everybody was, & I mean literally everyone we met or spoke to. We went in 8 or 9 pubs, 6 or 7 minicabs, loads of eating places, etc, etc. My pal said Arkles was an 'away' pub so we headed there before the game, it wasn't an away pub, it was full of red & white scarves & Liverpool shirts but it made no difference as we were welcome to go in regardless. One of my pals had Chelsea colours on so everyone knew we were Chelsea but at no point did I feel unsafe or unwelcome. After the game we went into 2 more pubs within a few minutes walk from the stadium (one of them had walls covered with music posters), both full of Liverpool fans & yet once again we were made so welcome, so many Liverpool fans talked to us & went out of their way to be friendly. Even all the stewards in & around the ground were friendly & smiled at you. I went to see if I could get a team sheet at the main reception, the problem is the stewards often won't let non-corporate fans passed the main door though. Not this time, a female official said to give her a minute & she'd see what she could do. Well, I could see through the glass door that reception had none left but the if the female official waited a moment they would print some more & so she waited & then brought 2 team sheets over & gave them to me. So accommodating.
