The lowest number of murders recorded in NYC since 1951 occurred during 2017 and 2018. If my memory serves me correctly, those numbers were 293 and 295 respectively. As contrast, when Giuliani left office in 2001, NYC recorded 649 murders. The all time high record was in 1990 when we had 2,262 murders and a population of 1 million fewer than we have now. Tell me, how many murders did we have last year?
