Oh guys, I’m seriously emotional about this ❤️ thanks a lot for showcasing my car and basically what we all like about this project by Toyota and Subaru. We’ll definitely have a run with the GR86 as well 🤟

I love mine and I will NEVER sell it!!! We also have owned a couple type R’a and now an Integra Type S, but I would rather jump into my old FRS every time! Sure the engine isn’t as exciting as maybe we would all like, but it revs, and it likes to rev. I have over 120k miles on mine and have been though about 15 or 16 sets of tires, a set of rotors and many brake pads, I replaced the clutch and flywheel (lightweight) when the throw out bearing failed around 60k miles. I keep the oil changed every 3-4k miles, the diff fluid and trans fluid fresh, I put better brake pads and stainless steel lines on it, and when one of my OEM shocks started weeping, I through a set of Tein adjustable coil overs on the car. It’s FANTASTIC!!!!! I love this car! The past few years I have driven it with the ABS FUSE pulled because the OEM traction/stability control system is useless and is a pain in the ass to turn off. I also replaced the very heavy OEM muffler with a simple track delete. Now it feels like a sports car from the 1980’s-90’s! I drive it HARD and do my best to destroy tires as fast as I can, every shift is redline and every drive is a great time! For the past month I have had a Porsche GT3 Touring, probably the best car I have ever driven…. But honestly, I still love to hop into my little 86 and drive it in a way that I could NEVER do on the streets with that Porsche! I will keep it forever!

My nephew has one and LOVES it. It has an exhaust and a tune, I can hear it coming blocks away, but it is his baby and he's very passionate about the car. And that is why we are all here for, passion, right?

❤ I loved the video and I share many of the opinions, I only use it to enjoy it and I like that the steering wheel has no buttons and that everything is so simple. I admit that the engine lacks a bit of character and that it is the worst of the car, but with the appropriate modifications it ends up sounding very well and the experience changes a lot. I don't have much experience in the Nordschleife, but the laps I have been able to do with him last year have been epic! The car simply seemed to be in the right place and it seemed to flow in every curve, a much more pleasant experience than with my old Clio 3 rs. As I already told Serxio, the short drive short makes a big difference in how you feel the car, although for your daily use it may not fit at all.

Great conversation. Sold my 2013 GT86 for an S2 Exige and always missed the GT86. In september I got a friends 2017 BRZ. Always well maintained and 120k km so I was confident. With a shorter final drive the drivetrain is way better, it’s so much more usable 👌🏼

@@ballekeyour video shows why i enjoy the 86 so much, so fun to drive it on the limit, doesn't matter if its sometimes at 101% , i can just drift it back on the race line.

Just dont understand why you say it lacks power, when on the straight of the racetrack you say, its actually decent speed. I think if you push trough the revs its actually fast enough, the problem is mid range torque. Also if you want, it will be very very economical, and if you go flat out its fast enough, so dont understand why people complain. I have one for three years now, and i love it. Its brilliant!

Serxio pulling excuses 1 minute in the lap is the best thing in the video

I'm on my 6th year with my 86. Wouldn't trade it for anything else, honestly. Over 100k kms and over 1000 Nordschleife laps, and still going strong! Also, blue is best color :)

@@maarten8959 I hate the styling of the new one. I will, however, be very interested when GR86 powertrains enter the parts market.

I had one of these for a few years, in regard to the gearbox, I always found double clutching in the cold made it easier to use the gearbox until it warmed up.

Fun video, i also boght a GT86 2years ago, best fun daily i could find, its excellent, every day in snow or sun, kids in the back, the occasional track day and twisty roads, even fits my mtb. I find the steering really good compared to anything from this or more modern vintage, though the 2nd gear sucks in a cold country. I put 2019brz dampers(much better ride), lowering springs, camber bolts and proper alignment, made a big difference for little money, perfect daily fun car! I dont mind the engine, its just not special, would probably bought it even if it had 20hp less, theres still not exactly any other similar cars to choose from that deliver anything similar.

Loved this video - great story and so many smiles, which made it so enjoyable to watch. Power is not everything. It is more about your own relationship with the car (including it faults!). Some choice mods and it will be a great daily as well as for an occasional track outing. More please...

I relate to everything said. I've been an owner of an mx5 na for 15 years and a GT86 owner for the last 2 years. I feel great in the 86 because it reminds me in so many ways my mx5. In some areas it is better, in some other areas worse, but it shares the same values! My 86 is also a high mileage one and in this 2 years has cost me only oil changes. I agree that the most disappointing thing is the powertrain. The mx5 gearbox is way better. The engine sound at low revs is worse than a diesel. But I still love it ❤

It looks very well balanced on track. It suits Serxio very nicely.

And regarding the elephant in the room: is the old MY-SX5 now assigned to permanent track day duty, since you cannot have two cars on the same plates?
