I love this video, not only because i own a 95 Miata but because i feel the same as Matt, the sense of sticking with this car for a long time, to really enjoy it, i have absolutely no desire for faster new machines, the NA´s are just so right and teach you so much that it fills your soul

Wonderful video! Matt gets it. It's about the driving experience, not about the fastest and most technologically advanced car. The Miata is such a perfect sports car.

I have known Matt personally since 1994 and his passion for racing has never wavered. He has a cornucopia of knowledge when it comes to anything, especially cars, and racing. What a treat to watch this video and see Matt's passions noticed by the One Lap Heros peeps. This was the first time in all the years of knowing Matt that I got to see him in his happy place. Really get where Matt is coming from I was given a later NBFL SVT a few years ago and it is the perfect drivers car, mine is completely stock aside from the stailess steel exhaust and does not even have a roll over bar, but it is so much fun on the open road, in competition on hills and in sprints. Took it to the Nurburgring for a couple of evening laps in October and it was like the car was just built to be driven there, might go for an upgraded brake system for my next visit in June, specifically the steel brake lines and semi comp pads which Matt mentioned. Thanks for sharing.

He just perfectly explained what i’m trying yo tell my friends. I have a 2002 S2000 and i come from BMW M cars and have driven many Porsches but i’m having so much fun in this little car. Ofc i did modify it a bit, mainly suspension parts. I don’t know of any car that gave me this certain feeling of driving (open top makes a huge difference yes!), analog, no ESP, cable trottle, a shifter sitting directly on top of the gearbox. It’s also more challenging to drive than modern cars, the window to get it right is very small, it needs at least some practice time no matter how experienced you are and thats what makes it so exciting. Also these type of cars are usually very reliable and maintenance is cheap. I do track mine a few times a year but haven’t been to the Nordschleife yet, honestly i was super scared to take it because it’s a much slower car than whats usually driven there and i don’t want to stand in anyones way 😅 i’ve driven a GT3 on the Nordschleife and that was actually not so scary because i didn’t have to check the rear view mirror so often and felt really comfortable in it (also let the drivers aide’s on)

I’m the original owner of a 1973 Porsche 914 2.0 litre and would love to do the Ring,but unfortunately I live in Canada 🇨🇦 and don’t have the resources to ship to Germany. I think Matt has the perfect Miata, but then again I’m just a anolog guy living in a digital world.
