Lol at Kate wearing the snorkel mask while cutting onions. Hometown is a really special place, thanks for taking me back there and for your notes on Conch conservation. From the stories I heard I thought we'd just jump over the side of the boat and see thousands of conch. Not so, they are getting scarce. Good bait from the scraps though!!
+Bill R Definitely not as easy as people would imagine to catch conch. You'll find 5-10 empty shells with holes in them before you find a live and healthy one. :/
In the cold of winter I watch Caribbean videos and stumbled across your channel the other day. I couldn't stop watching and enjoy your videos. All I need is enough $, a passport and a good man and I'm going, even if just for a few weeks. Wes and Kate you make a lovely couple and now have a new sub. Stay safe and God bless.
Great to see all those places you visited, thanks for taking us along with you. I like the practical aspects of your adventurers as well as the scenery and the opening music was beautiful. Avidly watching you every week and best wishes for you from the UK.
Thanks for showing us how easy it is to get the conch out of the shell! We've been avoiding grabbing any because of conservation concerns and how difficult it seemed to eat. We'll follow your lead next time :)
+Monday Never Just make sure they have the large lip flare! (fully matured) It is a shame that they are so over fished :/ We had to catch and eat at least one ourselves on this trip right? When you guys catch yours, you gotta make your conch horn. The vid I am putting up today with show you how!
Awesome! We just picked up some conch for the first time in our anchorage in St. John, USVI, so I was googling conch salad recipes. And then I watched this - perfect! Love this - great job with the videos, guys!
I thought I was all caught up with your videos and turns out I was 6 days left! Unnacceptable! I'm so jealous all the time, you guys make me miss the ocean so much. Great stuff as always. Cheers! :D
another great video....man, that water is so intense!! Did you sell the boat? Sorry i never got a chance to get down there---we bout a 34 footer--- hope to meet you out there someday, someway!
Looking like a free dive pro now bud!! Did you konk your konk with the konk? or was that just a konk bleed? only joking bud Ha! hA! keep up the good work, looks great weather you are having there, In scotland you feel like you are in a gray room for a month now, the sea is gray, the sky is gray, the clouds are gray, even the rain looks gray or is that me starting to get cabin fever? aaaaaahhhhhh!!!! im going insane, thanks to your videos its like watching a breath of fresh air, now i know out there the sun does still shine.
Hey, if you like the music in this video, you can find more of my work on my channel, where there are links to my free album and other bits of music I've created over the years :)
I was there last spring and was looking forward to catching some conch , but checked the Bahamas fishing regulations and it is illegal for anyone except Bahamians to harvest conch . so you might want to double check that before you post any more vids of that nature , just a FYI , but I do enjoy your videos
+Ross Park You have to get a fishing permit, which we got when we checked into the Bahamas. The permit is good for 3 months, everything is legal here! Thanks for watching the videos :)
Hold on !!!! You did not cook the conch???? How that works ? conch is hard as nails, In Puerto Rico we boil it until is tender, then we ad the rest of the ingredients. just an observation, good video, thank you.
+ramonp485 Bahamas is all about raw conch, scorched conch/conch salad. I think the lime juices cooks it like ceviche. The darker meat is tough and you can tenderize it by hitting it I think, but the bahamians eat the dark meat so while in the Bahamas do as they do ;)
I've been following "Gone with The Wynns" who have been full time RV'ers... They are trading in their "sponsored" RV for a sailboat... Somehow or another these two have figured out how to travel on a "sponsored" dime - perhaps it would behoove you to get in touch with them and offer your experiences etc... Take a look at their channel...
+Christina Coloradoan I watch them too. I don't think they will be able to handle life at sea. There are a lot of things that do not make it to you tube videos while out there sailing around.
When the weather turns crazy and everyone is scrambling the camera hardly ever comes out. And when you have a mechanic failure and you have to dive head first into the engine compartment to fix something the camera also isn't out. Sometimes you get to fix things in a calm anchorage but it usually breaks or fails at the worst time and you have to act fast. It could be something as simple as the furler getting jammed and not being able to get the sail in when the wind picks up.
+Hellava Life It happens occasionally when you first start diving a lot, pushing deeper depths etc. I think it does have something to do with equalizing. I always equalize but sometimes a bloody nose would occur.
+Hellava Life Called "squeeze". A little congestion and pressure change then pop. Usually more dramatic looking than dangerous (unless you have unfriendly, hungry neighbors nearby :))
You burst a little vein in your nose . Some people have deeper veins in their noses then others and will suffer a bloody nose sooner then other's, but eventually all will suffer a bloody nose with a bit of free diving . Loved the video again thumb's up 👍 😆 .
I would guess when the two of you view these videos you must long to be back on the water. Massachusetts in winter is not that much fun in comparison. Peace to all.
