Living For Jesus - A Cappella Hymn 

These songs are so refreshing and uplifting! I was diagnosed as a terminal cancer - Multiple Myeloma patient - who has been extended life for 8 years after being given maximum 6 months to live never to walk again. These hymns give life, hope and duty to all who trust and obey Jesus' commands.

God has used this song recently to completely change my heart and attitude towards my husband and my circumstances. I look for the light of His smile! Living for Jesus is the aim of my life!!! I give myself to Him. I own no other master. My heart shall be His throne!❤❤❤

So glad this version kept, “ willing to suffer affliction and loss; deeming each trial a part of my cross.” Too often we forget to remind ourselves and those coming into our congregations that we’re putting a target on our backs by claiming Christ. Be ready to suffer through whatever hardships come our way because Jesus gives us hope. Stay strong my brothers and sisters. God bless you all.

I have discovered this hymn writer is buried not far from where I used to live. I will be visiting that area soon and am going to pay my respects at his graveside. I will be singing this song there to honor his work. Thank you for putting up this video.

This song has now a deep meaning to me. I went to our church last Sunday,and this is our last congregational song after preaching. I do not know, but while singing, my tears are already falling and sobbing real hard that my face mask was full of tears and snot. The lyrics is on point and eye opener. Since I found Acapella hymns, I see to it that I sing them before I start my evening devotion. I've known most of the old hymns. Some of my favorites are As the Deer, Great is Thy Faithfulness and Living for Jesus. Thank you for sharing these.

Although this is a post WWI era hymn, it was still being sung a lot in our church during the 1950s and '60s. Then it was removed from our hymnal sometime in the '70s. I cannot imagine why except many were saying the "old-fashioned" music made it too hard to keep young people interested in the church. More modern hymns replaced many such as this one, with the actual effect of driving the old-timers away. I'm thankful that songs such as this are still remembered.

Beautiful hymn, beautiful harmony. Christ lives in our hearts, so first time chorus should be, My heart shall be THY throne, not MY throne. Easy mistake to make when singing poetry. Next three choruses are right. But thank you to the singers.

I think in these times of govt manipulation and extreme misuse of power the horror being unleashed from victims onto victims these serve an even greater purpose than you intended. To God be the Glory that He may reach the hearts of so many wounded souls blessing and healing them. May lost souls be reached and receive The Lord's Salvation.

What hymnal did you get this arrangement? Every hymnal I own has the note "not too fast" for the stanzas, and "a little slower" at the refrain, or no notes at all.
