One practical thing to consider - many NY movers wouldn't even touch this - they charge by the floor to move you in, and if you're 6 up without an elevator (and a real tight stairwell on top of that), good luck getting furniture in there.

The one-bed with fireplace, third unit wins this easily. As for the other two units...how many people are willing to shell-out $6600/month to walk up and down six floors every day? Now throw lugging groceries, or suitcase, etc. on top of that. Heck! I wouldn't even want to retrieve a GrubHub delivery. While they were nice units it is hard to imagine four adults living in those accommodations and the price is too expensive (IMHO) for the average family.

If I had to compare the 1st 2 units I'd say that the 2nd is better but still no way no how am I walking up & down 6 flights of stairs. & you didn't mention the snack kitchens lol. The 3rd has a quirky kind of charm to i it & sounds right on the price point. But no one is talking about what movers charge for stairs. It's NOT cheap. They might not charge you for a 2nd floor walk-up but 6 or even 4??? & who could blame them? I'll stick to my elevator building, especially when I'm on the top floor
@sinash
@sinash Год назад
@@MamaCarola1 What kitchen? Do you mean the 4-burner microplate? BUT one of the units had a BEVERAGE COOLER (which probably didn't cost any more than $400--cheaper on Amazon Prime...) and THAT is supposed to sell me on the apartment after walking up six flights? Or is it the access to the roof (try getting a grill or outdoor furniture up that narrow of narrowest spiraling staircase) the "selling" point? So, this Landlord is confident that I'm going to commit to paying $6600/month for this aggravation? No ma'am...

A lifetime ago, I rented a small studio apt. with a murphy bed and a murphy kitchen in mid-town Manhattan on the Eastside for $220/month in 1972. Born and raised in an outer borough, I wanted to break out and experience all NYC had to offer. Googled equivalent of $220 in 1972 comparable to 2023. It is $1440. So, 1650/person for the first property is a $210 increase over a period of 51 years. I was tempted to say, "the more things change, the more they stay the same," BUT that would be comparing apples to oranges. I had no roommates to contend with back then. Tried that scene twice subsequently and neither time was a good experience, just sayin'. Of course, there was no outdoor space available either, so I guess things balance out. Thought you might find this of interest, Cash. ❤ your channel, BTW. Chuck in Northern New England

@@michellebloch8970yeah, I’m wondering the same thing. Perhaps a Murphy kitchen table that pulls down from the wall? I had a small one in college that was a half oval mounted to the wall. The first two apartments might be a good deal for mountain goats who get along well with each other, but six flights get a little tough for the over-30 crowd. The $3,100 one-bedroom seems to be only fourth-floor, and it's a decent place. Without the fireplace and wall, it would make a spacious, though pricey, studio.

The kitchen counter in the last apartment is of a composite material. What Cash often calls granite or even marble, isn't. There are many different counter materials and granite has fallen out of favor due to its maintenance requirements. Also, in general, there's a stove which is free-standing with a cooktop and oven; then there's a cooktop or an oven. A stove is not an oven by itself or a cooktop by itself. Cash does not need a gym; with all the walking and stair-climbing he does, he is quite fit and strong. His energy comes in a can or bottle, though. Such a fun guy!

For those small bathrooms, brushing teeth can be done in the kitchen. Back when people had outhouses, they brushed their teeth in the kitchen.

$7K is absolutely ridiculous. Mortgage for a real nice house with land anywhere in the USA except crappy NYC. NUTS!

I don't care how pretty it looks inside but the entrances and exits are safety issues. This makes me love Texas quality of living space.

Rent is crazy high here in LA too just not quite as bad. This makes me wonder how much Lucy and Ricky's New York apartment would go for these days. It would probably be broken up into 10 apartments with 1 bathroom.
