This has got to be one of the craziest apartment conversions on the planet, and it doesnt even look like an apartment building from the street. Very cool and unique to live in an Ex-Cathedral.

Oh, don't ever put something heavy in front of a water heater. If you have to get to it in an emergency (leaking is fun) you will kill your back trying to move it before the house floods.
@jeanhansel5805

Beware of water leaks to those living below a water heater. Do newer water heaters have auto shutoffs which shutoff if the water heater stops working and leaks? No in unit laundry because the plumbing in this old building probably could not accommodate them.

What a beautiful building! I love the windows! I'm so glad they "had to work around.." the building features. Buildings like this need preservation. It's too bad that renting in NYC for most requires a roommate, or several roommates, to be affordable. I would have a problem with that. I hate most people and just tolerate the rest. 😉 so no NYC apartment living for me! Thanks for the video, Cash! 👍

It's Christian to provide housing for the needy in a church that's disused. A church recently bought out millions of dollars of medical debt to be eliminated. If Christians did cool things for their communities like that more often they would begin to fill their churches up again. If I were rich I would probably sue the government to force them to payback wages at current minimum wage for the inmate worker program & start a tiny house building program with the help of a local trade school. The workers would would potentially get hundreds of thousands of dollars of back pay per each worker, and I would offer them the chance to walk away with a free tiny house as a tradeschool graduation award. If they're getting their own tiny house on their way exiting the prison system then they would want to read up interior design with magazines in their prison cells. I recommend people use Bamboo or white colored cabinets with Phenolic Resin Countertops which are those black counter tops you see in chemistry labs. If the Prisoners built their own tiny house to their specifications then they'll quickly want to cut out abusive acquiescence out of their freind circle such as drunkards who punch holes in walls. It would be a self feeding loop of reform essentially, If they cut out abusive assholes then they'll probably start hitting the gym to improve their own bodies, maybe the prisoners would build a tiny house extension to fit a treadmill to stay in shape during winter time?

Those windows are truly unique and I would love to have it. Romeo Romeo wherefore art thou Romeo? As for the larger units, they seem to lack character and the views are not as nice. I had a window like that, that I had gone through a whole lot of trouble to get free so I could open it for air in an apt without a/c. only to be broken into TWICE using That window. Because it's not a window that you see all the time, it's vulnerable.

Hmm... I will always applaud the re-use and retrofitting of historic structures, but I'm SO NOT feeling luxury here. Quite honestly, I'm feeling a lot of "press & stick" and a bit of tenement housing. Aside from the structural elements (which thankfully gives each unit "some" character) there just isn't any real character to the units. Unfortunately, I'd pass especially given the type of money that is being asked re the rent. About Sternberg Park: Named after and honors Frances Hamburger Sternberg (1920-1990), a New York native and active Brooklyn community member who contributed extensively to the social and political life of the Greenpoint and Williamsburg neighborhoods. Her life of philanthropy included chairing the Friends of Lindsay Park (this park's previous name) Committee.

If a neighborhood will forever be "up and coming", it sounds like it hasn't made much progress in the past fifty years. Or the past hundred. Maybe "up" is the wrong word. $3,400 for a studio and $4,300 for a one-bedroom and also for a two-bedroom? I think he needs to check on those rents. It's a totally refurbished building with laundry and the finishes are nice, but the apartments are a bit steep for Brooklyn.

I'm aware of the attraction people feel to pay nearly $5k per month to live in small space within an overall a densely populated area. I talk with New Yorkers who have moved on to slower paces of life often. Perspective, $250k can buy acres of land in relatively prestine and unpolluted environment while also being within 30 minutes of a Trader Joe's. The nearest neighbor can be halfway to the horizo, the city center would be a casual drive with a scenic lakeview alomg the way and you would own the land. So for almost the same payments for this apartment plus other cost of living, an individual can become a landlord and setup the future 60 year old self with a private kingdom. Renting is a nessicity while figuring out the next move.

There is another Subway access point 1.15km from Whiskers Vegan Cafe where you go up steps to get your ticket or use your personal metro ticket then you go up more steps to get to the platform proper.

I'm loving the church being converted into apartments. If I won the lottery, I'd buy one of these.
