I really felt for you when you saw the motorcycle rider and his girlfriend down. I was tearing up too. When I was little, about 11 or so, we were on our way to Oregon for vacation driving in the family car. A motorcycle rider lifted his helmet and smiled at me and waved. I was so excited as a young girl. He passed us of course but I kept looking for him. Finally, coming around a bend we saw an accident. A motorcycle rider down. The same one that smiled at me. But he was covered. He didn’t make it, whatever had happened. I was so upset, crushed and cried the rest of the way to Oregon. I’ve never told anyone this and I e kind of been heartbroken all my life for witnessing this, so to speak. As an adult now, I always look for riders and I’m careful on the road. Please motorcycle riders, be careful and cars, please look out. I hope your knee gets better. ❣️❣️❣️

Many years ago I when I first started riding I knew someone who was very intrigued by my motorcycle, so much so that he bought one. About six months later I was coming back from LA to Vegas on the I-15 and there was a police roadblock on the left two lanes, they had these white sheets and they were placing them down on the road and the minute they did they turned scarlet red with blood... When I got back to Vegas I found out the guy I that knew was coming back to Vegas on his new bike and went down and was killed. The person I saw on the roadway was him... and for years I felt guilty about turning him on to bikes. I still ride and have two motorcycles, but I have to say most of the time it's pure paranoia and not much fun.

Also a rider. Have had numerous friends go down, a few spending weeks in the ICU or recovery. I wear all my gear all the time and was t-boned by a deer in Arizona. Cars don't see us and we have to be vigilant about making ourselves known. I, personally, have kicked a few car doors in my boots .

Yup. I almost get killed twice a week on average. Sucks, but I'd rather die on my bike than hooked up to tubes in a hospital bed

Been a bicycle commuter my entire life, but had to buy my first car (at 45) after a distracted driver took me out with a right hook, and the pain when its below 40deg just got to be too much ... shit sucks. Stay safe brother, and keep the rubber side down.

@@caseykelso1 One time I'm coming home on the 5th of July, I had been away for the 4th and was just coming back home, there's a guy on a full dress bike about 100 yards ahead of me, a girl in a minivan tries to beat the traffic light to make a left into another street, she cuts right across the path of the guy on the bike ahead of me, he's doing about 45 or 50 miles an hour and blasts this minivan dead center... caves the entire side of this minivan in and it goes up on 2 wheels he hit her so hard. I slam on my brakes and pull over, a woman runs across the street to the police precinct (yeah this happened right in front of a police precinct in Long Island, New York). The cops come rushing out, the ambulance arrives about 2 minutes later, they pick the guy up and put him on a stretcher unconscious and I could see by the way they were acting that he must have been dead. Anyway this youngish girl, maybe later 20's or so, is sitting on the curb talking to her mother on her cellphone, and I can hear her say "Some idiot guy just hit my car and he destroyed it mom! I have groceries in my car can you come get me?"... If you could have seen just how detached she was, how inconvenienced by the whole thing she felt, never realizing that she just killed somebody because she didn't want to wait for a red light to change. The only emotion she felt was anger for the guy on the motorcycle that wrecked her van... These are the kinds of people you're sharing the road with out there.

Nikki, the motorcycle stuff hit home, always does! Lost my Sister in 1981! She was on the back, husband on front. He survived. Glad he did; my nephew at 6 years old at least still had one parent. Brought tears to me, always does

Your comments on the dangers of motorcycles were spot on, and they are also applicable to the dangers of bicycles in vehicle traffic. I don't care how good a bike rider you are, it only takes one bad driver to produce live-changing (or even life-ending) results. I have friends who ride bikes in city traffic and I fear for them constantly. It looks like your knee rehab is coming along nicely! It didn't seem to bother or inhibit you on the hikes and bike rides in this video.

Thank God I am not the only one that feels that way about motorcycles. And about seeing accidents. It is so scary. So many friends and family ride then and people just don't care. I'm sure it was very shocking to see the guy who got thrown off his motorcycle. I agree with you completely that people are not mindful whether it's cars or motorcycles but as somebody who has driven a lot in Phoenix, LA, etc I've also seen motorcyclists flying at high speeds in and out of traffic so that's always a possibility too. I was curious why, with a torn ACL, you're not wearing a knee brace and worse, while hiking on sandy, steep terrain? Reinjuring it is the worst possible scenario risking a deeper/longer tear and significantly extending healing time. Be careful lady!😊

Please get a hands free set to film yourself while driving. (Or even better, just don't... but I get this is your job) Eating while driving, sure. But eating, plus filming yourself, plus feeding your dog. There's no way you'd be able to grab the wheel in time if you needed to. It's better to just lose a few minutes than something way more important. Love you!

Blessings on your knee healing up properly Nikki. Great to see the two of you, as always. ...Love your sensitivity GF - I'm the same way, re seeing things that are upsetting. Here is hoping that biker and rider are okay... I rode mcs lots too but it's been like 30yrs... 'Had accident that was actually my own damn fault but yes, had plenty of close calls w/those car drivers who don't give a damn about bikers and love to either claim some absurd innocence ("I didn't see them", "They should ride on the side", etc) or they love to blame us for their bad moves. ...Anyhoo, bought a bike last year, trying to have at it again but I find my fear is winning dammit. Each time I try to ride it, I find myself shaky and full of fear, which was never true all those yrs back. 'Doesn't help to have acquired C-PTSD from other things, so maybe like you, my mc days are done. Ah well, and so it goes... Like you, my joyous, grateful and enthusiastic spirit has never been silenced and I thank God for that! So hugs to you and The Camps - stay safe and see you again soon! Not sure if you know about DAMP RID- you get it at Walmart in the RV supplies section. It absorbs moisture from your breath all night, helping to preserve your vehicle. That much moisture is bad for vehicles and can lead to hidden mold. If you get a new vehicle, you will especially want Damp Rid. Love you guys! ❤️❤️❤️

The World needs Motorcycle Riders for their “Donated” Organs after they fail at Stunts they saw on RU-vid. Everyone has seen them Swerving in and out of Lanes, then trying to break the 100 MPH. They make the Best “Donators” because it usually a Fatal Head Injury which allows Many People will get to enjoy their Organs.

My crazy idea continued…. ( sorry about that)…. Why not approach Toyota and tell them your experience living out of your 10 ? Year old car with x amount of miles? Talk about reliability, dependability, maintenance, off road adventures, repairs, suggested improvements????, they may ask you to make a commercial, be an ambassador/ rep. or even give you a new Prius to test drive and see how it compares? How did the paint hold up being out doors in the dessert or put doors 24/7. That would be sssoooo cccccoooooolllll!!!!

In 2015 i was riding my bicycle in the town we reside in,i was t-boned by a #6000 suv speeding through a yield sign(going 30mph) by a 16 years old,i was hit,thrown 30feet to the road,rolled ,died instantly,got to come back to 13 fractures(left pelvis in half screw in it now,3 briken ribs,left shoulder,neck fractured in 3 places.glad my wife didnt witness it.ppl please pay attention.bikers/riders dont really want to die at hands of careless morons.

I recommend reclining the front seat before you retreat to the rear for the evening. Then use the hand holds above the passenger doors to aid yourself in your easy return to the cockpit in the morning and then return the Captains chair to it's normal driving position. I like to think of it as being in a National Space Station.

I used to want a motorcycle until I realized how dangerous the road is even with a CAR. I mean even in a Tesla which is the safest car in production has it’s own set of death rates. So definitely never messing with a bike.

Happy to see you on the mend, not sure I understand how giving up your healthy diet for recovery is important, I believe the dr's that suggested this many not be aware of how nutrition works. My wife and I have been plant based eaters now for 7 years, occasionally we eat fish, we also know people who have been totally vegan for over 40 years and they heal fine as do we. We love the videos too! I’m traveling with my pup right now and definitely do worry about critters. But just keeping yourself aware of your surroundings and not overthinking things is important. Can’t let the fear of that stuff stop you from living!

As an old nurse this makes me encourage everyone to have first aid training and carry a good pack. You never know when you will be the first responder and your actions can mean life or death. Certainly don't want to be the person who keeps driving because you don't know what to do, do you? Also as the world gets ever crazier, and way fewer nurses able to work you need to take care of yourself.

You know, if you make less than around $200k you actually pay more tax (all tolled) if you live in Texas than if you live in California. It's just that California has such steep progressive taxes that the folks who own the news papers, the radio stations, the television networks, etc are all getting absolutely hammered.

Camper can stay in my spare bedroom and You could live in my spare garage with the Prius. I should probably admit I can't guarantee I would let Camper leave.

I was knocked off my Harley, only at about 15 MPH, it totalled the bike and put me in the Hospital for three days. The Driver, told the only police man on the scene, that I hit him! So he was released. He never apologized or checked on my condition. Hit and run! Similar thing happened to a friend, but in addition, the bike was stolen from the scene.

Smart not riding a motorcycle anymore. I rode until 1982 when upon a brand new bike with literally less than 15 minutes on it and stopped at a red light a driver rear ended me and totaled the bike!!!! Anybody tell you Nikki you have a sense of humor. The only tip I would have for you is to have a leash which you can easily drop or breakaway from. A man in the neighborhood where I used to live was out riding with his dog and the dog bolted pulling him off his bicycle, he died.

Niki MEDICAL ALERT FOR CAMPER. Arizona has a fungus in the soil that is deadly to dog's. It's called in short term "Valley Fever" coccidioidomycosis. Back in 2004 I went camping at The Lost Dutchman Campground in Mesa. When I got back to Chicago my dog Ripsi began showing sign's of something wrong. She is in heaven. I just really wanted you to know to be aware. Other than that. Spanky my poodle and I love watching your adventures. God bless from Chicago.

Hi Nikki. Curious. How much was the fuel per gallon in the vid? I'm in BC but not in Vancouver and the price is $8.22 a gallon for REGULAR in Van. I have a truck and need to go electric but NONE of the 4 major dealers in my town of 11,000 are getting set up for electric vehicle sales and SERVICE. I don't think they are aware of the numbers of US people that would like to save the earth. Would love to see you with a new electric or hybrid. Back to the video. KEN

Ducati Multistrada 1200S Granturismo and a KTM 1090 Super Adventure R rider. I love riding and it isn't inherently dangerous but it is unforgiving. The only place I was uncomfortable was at stop lights. Zero control over the drivers behind me approaching the light. I love riding. Power to weight ratio is sick. I hope duder is okay. The thought of becoming a meat crayon 🖍 on a Phoenix freeway is horrible.

I live in Tucson. Used to live in Phoenix. Tucson is way less crowded. Phoenix traffic is like LA traffic. I think because a lot of people from California moved there. Love watching your adventures! 😍💕💋

I agree, motorcycles are not bad or dangerous it's just people driving are busy with phones/radio/watching some video while driving nor just plane daydreaming or thinking about something else. I watch you mountain climbing, hiking, and camping and wish I could still do that. But 40years ago I was run over by a truck while on a3wheel bike. they told me I would never walk again, they wanted to amputate my left leg at the hip with no stub for a prosthesis. I told them no, I was born with it I will die with it. They told me that should take about 3 weeks. A doctor that just left his general practice and went back to school to become an orthopedic surgeon stopped by the next day and said he had learned some new procedures that they dont use in this hospital yet and told me if I would sign releases that he and the hospital would not be responsible if I dont make it he would do what he could to put my leg back together. He did and I walked out of the hospital about 6 weeks later

It can be freaky seeing a motorcycle accident ! Back in 2008 coming back from X-Fest concert a guy hit the concrete divider wall on interstate 465 Indiana my bad ! Or interstate I 69 that part a little fuzzy ! He was on a crotch rocket but we couldn't find him just the motorcycle it was leaning against the wall we looked in the ditch across from the motorcycle on our side walked all around then we jumped the divider wall to look on the other side of the interstate ! We finally see this guy way down on other side of the road on the shoulder stumbling around ! Turns out it's him ! 😳🤯 He hit the wall so hard it shot him over it to other side of highway across the 3 lane interstate and lane wide shoulder and into the ditch ! 😳🤯😱 the motorcycle actually travelled 250 yards past where he came off it ! No freakin way right ? 😳🤯😱 His clothes were damn near shredded off him and he was scraped up but talking and sorta alert ! 🤕🥴 Talk about blessed !!! 🙏👀 We had him lay down and got him an ambulance 🚑 & fire department & state police showed up finally ! He kept saying his brother was gonna kill him over the motorcycle ! I said don't worry bout that Highlander your apparently immortal !!! LoL. 😲😳😆 That was the craziest thing I ever saw from a motorcycle accident !

I have always wondered how much feeling dogs and cats have in their paws regarding walking or running on rocky terain. I can't walk on an asphalt street or driveway in my bare feet. I wonder how they do it with no problem.

Same, been traveling with my pup out of my car for a few months now and am always checking his paws. I have booties for him but he is not a big fan of wearing them lol. He seems just fine without them though

When I was 18, I hit a lampost on my motorcycle, a degloving injury, from my knee down...imagine taking a glove off your hand and it inside out..same thing, my hip was transplanted in me leg, all my back muscles..only to catch gangrene...then my option was to have my legs sewn together, do the meat in one leg, growers into the other, while having weekly surgery transfering a little bit of my ribs in the leg to create a shin bone..then take more muscle from somewhere to create a leg around that....I said no, then two surgeons and a priest showed up, said the gangrene on my let infected all the valves in my heart, and the next day, I'm going to surgery to have all my heart valves replaced with either pig or artificial valves......long story short....I'm 59 and still going strong, less a leg and lots of missing wasted back muscles and a hip.... haven't played baseball, sports, rode a bike, skated, jogged, for 40 years now, but still rocking forward, I was 3 time Nova Scotia Boxing Champ, 1 time Canadian Bronze medalists in Montreal in ,1982, soon as I got back, I had my motorcycle accident in August 1982.....never give up, I have a beautiful 9 year old daughter, retiring after 35 years with the Federal Government in the next 10 months, and looking forward to overlanding, since my marriage is coming to a end, but one day maybe our paths will cross, until then...keep on keeping on!

Yes people need to turn off their cell phones because I’m also a motorcycle rider last year I had to lock up the Harley because some guy cut me off or should I say young kid that was on his phone that wasn’t paying attention blew a seal in my fork which I just got fixed last Tuesday more people need to stay off their cell phones and slow down. There is a reason why Trauma room doctors cal them, DONOR-CYCLES, at least that is what I was told by my spinal surgeon when I was life flighted to Trauma at hospital. I love riding but every mistake you will pay for dearly. I still ride but am more cautious . Stay Safe
