Living In A Tent While Building My Dream Tiny House 

You don"t know it but you are my HERO, I am 77 years old, had a stroke last Feb and this Feb. I have fractured my L2 in my back with a pinched nerve in my hip. But the way I see it, if Jared can do what he does with one leg, I can do it with two. I am waking with a walker now, but planning on losing that soon. Just wanted you to know, you are an amazing young man. I also have two pugs that I adopted from a local humane society. Have a great day.

Those mattresses are heaven! After I broke my hip, I visited my sister for a while, and she had that type of mattress. I was able to sleep like a baby.

Oh my gosh! So much to take in on this one. In regards to your tent floor and trying to keep it clean, we camp often (just graduated to a caravan 😂) but think of getting a rug, even a secondhand one from the thrift store, that way the dirt will settle onto the mat and not blow around when you and your dogs move. I hate dirt in sheets 😮. Next, get a bit of left over timber to raise your fridge off the floor a couple of inches so the door isn't rubbing on the floor. I would leave the shower where it is as you don't want to risk additional water under your tent, I would just get a tarp or old sheet (thrift shop) to make a wall on a rope and pole. Smaller barrel would allow the water to heat, but would mean less water available at 1 time. You need comfort but don't get too settled as that house needs to be built 😅. The dogs were very happy as they were with you, they will settle back into a sleeping routine. What lovely viewers! Taking time from there day to visit and deliver something so very handy, not just now but also when the house is finished ❤ have a wonderful couple of days, until the next 👍

Just an idea for you… when I was working on my property and living in a tent, I used 6 clear totes (so you can see what’s inside without having to open and search for stuff) for my clothes and used them for my mattress to get off the ground. Solved multiple problems with clothes and bed being so low. Also saved room in the tent. I put a variety of things in the totes… dishes, cookware, tools etc.

It all looks fantastic, and comfhy. Now let's hurry and get a roof on the house before it rains and storms. Great Job!!

My grandparents built a stand on the roof of their barn for a 50 gallon drum/barrel to rest in. They painted it black with a fill valve on top connected to a hose for filling, then there was a valve on the bottom connected to a hose that went to their outside shower. They had a second barrel under the shade tree. Both output hoses went to a T valve with an old faucet connected in the shower. If you wanted hot water, you filled the black drum in the morning, let it bake in the sun during the day and then you had hot water. Sometimes to hot, thus the second barrel under the shade tree. We had well water, so this worked. You can get a fan for the roof of the tent.😊 Have you heard of a swamp cooler?

If you can find a couple of used 275 gallon water totes you can place them on top of each other, cut out a door and make a makeshift shower cubicle. Put a water tote on top and you’ll have water pressure and the sun will heat the water. Also, putting a canopy or a tarp over your tent will reduce the heat from the sun building up in your tent.

❤ Hi Jared, Great set up! I miss camping in a tent. The first time i remember camping, i was about 5 or 6 ? It was my dad and mom, my older sister and I....in a 1967 Ford Station Wagon. No tent..... But when i was in my mid 20's, about 5 friend and I went camping. I bought a medium size tent. Then bought a Bigger one the next time! 😅 No more Station Wagons for me!!!!!!! 😂

Get you an instant hot water heater...😊You have a nice set up there!! Super cool!!✌

You could get a chunk of indoor outdoor carpet from a building store to put on the tent floor so the sound of the dogs walking doesn't wake you up. Plus, you could vacuum it and toss it or use it for another purpose after your house is built. Get yourself a portable clothing rack from walmart, the ones that have the shelves at the bottom so you can hang stuff from the top but the top shelf moves up and down and the bottom shelf is the stable one. You can keep shoes boots etc under the bottom one then extra storage above then the top shelf can be for bins for socks and underwear etc. Can you spray paint your water barrel black? That would help heat up the water if you want it warmer. Could you use the greenhouse for your microwave and coffee maker stand storing your food etc on the top shelf?

Get the stand on floor portable a/c. Vents out a “ window” and you can move it around. Will be useable in the house too.

Get you a couple of coffee mugs, 1 for coffee and 1 for soup.😊

When we camp tent , we use a long fold up table from walmart at one end of our tent, put the mini fridge on it and the camp stove. Then I keep tubs under the table with food in it. Keeps mice or whatever out of the food. Just a idea to get things up off the floor for ease of use. And no we dont rough camp, we have a queen size bed on a frame too.

Love the closet /greenhouse/ pantry. I took out my closet in my bedroom ans opted for a portable closet from amazon. My bedroom is small and i was able to use the longer side for my closet.I still have room for my desk. The black folding tables are the bomb from Walmart . The next time i go camping i am taking some Mylar blankets and hanging them over the windows to help block the sun. The coolest item i took tho where big safety pins I was able to run battery operated fairy lights and hang them from the ceiling.

21:42 I lived right in line of the AFB in Vegas and there was a few times I could see the pilot in the cockpit as they banked to the side it was crazy ASF, I don't miss the being at the end of the runway (1 mile away) but what I do miss is hearing "Reveille," "Retreat," and "Taps." everyday. I do miss that.

Jared I had a thought that might help on some of the dirt in the tent. What about putting down a rug that will fit just in the area right where you walk into the tent. I know it will hold some dirt but if you keep it vacuumed it won’t get so bad. Might save you from having to vacuum up dirt everyday. I know you put one down in front of the tent but thought maybe one inside might help as well and maybe the dogs might lay on it since there’s something down there on the floor. Like the bed. Plus you’re up to where you can get more air coming in.
