Like he said the choice of plane wasn’t the best. Newer planes with climate control would be fine, it gets cold af when you’re flying and planes do fine in the air. Maybe he didn’t want to spend money fixing the heat or installing a new one when it’s only him and only like half the year when it’s needed. He could’ve framed the interior and stuck insulation and drywall, you lose a little space inside tho but people live in shipping containers in cold climates by insulating it and installing heating.

As someone somewhat-less-nerdly than Bruce, but still a do-it-yourselfer, I can understand that he does what's functional - without being so worried about the aesthetics, without being so worried about impressing people with the looks of the interior. What bugs me is the relative lack of insulation, and there are a bunch of infrastructure details I wonder about. The APU was removed, but I think I would have wanted to keep it (if the plan was to use some existing electrics at their original voltages and frequency). I didn't see what he uses for heat. That location would have to have its own water & septic systems.

to each his own, I'm also an electrical engineer, I would not live there for free let alone pay $100,000 USD in 1999 (which is $180,000 USD in 2022 account for inflation.) The amount of work vs terrible living conditions shown in the video is just asking for torture. Imagine showering in a clipped wrapped plastic sheet... Only use phone on a sofa bed near the window... risk of freezing to death every winter... risk of falling from walking on the wings daily. There are better ways to stay creative and inventive without putting yourself in that situation. props to this guy doing it but even he knew he got ripped off by the scrap company, went from $30,000 to $100,000 for a junk rusted 727. I like how he said living in a plane is more dignified than living in a house then proceeds to show us his futon bed moments later

I can’t help but think if I were going to live in a plane I would want it to look like a house in the inside. But then again I can see his passion for the aircraft and he probably prefers it to still look like a plane on the inside.

No not really I’m not conspiracy nut or anything and I get algorithms and stuff but it does seem alittle strange that I don’t even have to say things out loud anymore only think them and then BAM there it is on my phone lol😱😱

Thanks for this fascinating video. I was surprised how little interior had been arranged or esthetically designed. It really is a bachelor/nerd type of feeling which seems to suit the occupant well.

Here is a person that knows what makes him happy and has created an environment around him to supplement his goals. He is a very intelligent person who can live without those things that tend to make us vane. My wish for him, is to come up with a system that would keep him warm, although it does not trouble him, I was trembling watching him in his multi layers of clothes and yet, he still smiles. Good luck my friend.

This is amazing. Can’t imagine living anywhere for $300 a month now lol. If anyone wanted a similar experience to this type of living In Costa Rica there is a plane that was turned into a hotel and the wing has a balcony. And on the ground is a restaurant and beautiful scenery as it’s 3 hours away from the capital.

Living In An Airplane $370 A Month, sounds nice, until you don't see how much he paid for the whole airplane, transporting, restoration and other things... basically he could have bought a real nice family house for all that money. 😆
