the thing i love about living in Ky is when bad things happen in other states it normally takes 10 to 15 yrs to hit Ky.

We moved from communist CA to Kentucky in spring of last year to Clark County just east of Lexington. It’s been an absolute dream. We were able to get a perfect little 12 acre farm for half of what you’d pay for a 3 bedroom house in a crowded subdivision in LA.

I’ve been here since 2020 and it’s been extremely affordable to live here. I’m in Franklin county and while there isn’t a ton to do here, that is appealing in its own way because it’s quiet and relaxing. There is also zero traffic here. You can rent a nice place for well under $1000. I just got a huge promotion working virtually and that money will go far here. The education system is unfortunate, for sure. I grew up on Long Island so I desperately miss the beach, but Kentucky has its own beauty. Lastly, if you never experienced allergies, you sure will when you move here lol. Enjoyed your video.

We’re selling our home and people keep asking this question…I’m not sure why though? Our house/land that’s for sale isn’t in a flood zone and has never flooded but that’s always a big question people ask and I’m wondering why when as a Kentuckian it’s not even a concern? Have you heard bad things about flooding in ky or something?

Thanks for watching! Louisville in particular has a high incidence of flash flooding. Even if you don't live in a flood zone, flooding can occur. I assume water in the basement, until the basement proves me otherwise! I know there was catastrophic flooding in eastern Kentucky in 2022. But to answer you question, I'm honestly not sure if there is a particular part of Kentucky that gets less flooding. While I do occasionally get water in my basement, it hasn't been a huge issue for me living here.

4:45 growing up in KY, you don't realize just how horrible the weather is until you move out of it. Not just four seasons in ky. Ky has 12 seasons. Winter, Fool's Spring, Second Winter, Spring of Deception, Third Winter, The Pollening, Spring, Summer, Hell's Front Porch, False Fall, Second Summer, Actual Fall

I live in Louisville and my rent just went up $50 per month. Rents have nearly doubled in the last 20 years. Louisville has the least mass transit availability per person of any U.S metro area. Tolls were added to build two new expressway bridges, as opposed to building light rail, at which the leaders here turned up their noses. Our cost of living is not as good as it’s often made out to be.

I love living in Louisville! Last winter we only had 2 days of snow and it was just a light dusting. Yes, people here freaked out and couldn’t drive in it because they weren’t used to it 😂. Restaurants are amazing and people are very nice. The SW part of KY is considered not as desirable to live.

Hi! I’m so glad you found my channel helpful. Middletown is a nice suburb and a great place to live. Located on the east end, convenient to a lot of shopping and restaurants. Most people don’t live downtown, but there are several nice neighborhoods nearby. Traffic typically isn’t that bad. A little more congested during rush hour of course. But nothing compared to NYC! Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help!

@@nataliaahn8119 One great thing about our public schools is that they are very diverse. As far as neighborhoods, some are more diverse than others. For rent it varies by landlord. But typically landlords require a minimum rent to income ratio of 30% I hope that helps!

I’m just saying a lot of people would love to know more about eastern/south eastern kentucky and I feel like appalachia and its beautiful mountains and hollers are in some ways better than the rockies

Eastern Kentucky doesn't get as many tornadoes. However, I have a storm shelter that will survive an F5.

That’s a tough question. Kentucky gets a lot of sever weather across the state. Eastern KY seems to get less tornadoes, but they’ve had some severe flooding in recent years.

The hills in Eastern Ky do help contain tornadoes unless they are major, usually, so the damage is less widespread. But major tornadoes do sometimes happen anyway, like the one that utterly destroyed West Liberty 12 years ago.

There are tons of great private schools throughout Kentucky, though. My son never spent a day in public schools, but still graduated high school a year early and at the top of his class, with a quality of education no public school anywhere could offer these days.

My fiancé and I are going to move to Lexington next year from Texas. This place used to be okay because it was just ours… sharing Texas with other Texans. “Sharing” Texas with Californians feels like theft. It will take us 3-4 years to save enough to purchase a home with decent mortgage and affordable monthly payments. I think culturally it’s gonna feel similar, and for a much more affordable cost of living.

Mosquitoes, mosquitoes and more mosquitoes! I love it here. My husband brought me here from L.A. and I grew up in Chicago and in D.C. I have lived in a few different cities and states. I can honestly say Kentucky is the best place to live for me. It is affordable, the people are very nice. Most people have guns so that probably contributes to the politeness. Our weather is hot and humid, but it never stays that way. The only thing that I have a hard time is the… insects and mosquitoes. I watered my tomatoes the other day in my back and I had way over 30 bites from 10 minutes in the garden. This video is 100 percent correct.

230 is too high for housing, and the income avetages everywhere is false. Tennessee has industry, real jobs that wages and job demands are in decline due to illegals working for less and production quotas falling way behind. Kentucky does not have industry to support communities. They depend upon like everywhere else migrating income in form of tourism and population trying to escape rising costs. Self sustainable living is desirable for the State.
