Beautiful City, But I could never live in a housing community that has housing practically stacked up on one another! Holly Molly! You can almost research out and touch your neighbor's house! Land on the outskirts with trees, space, and a bit of privacy I can do.

Older neighborhoods are often on 1/2-acre lots with plenty of space and privacy. Most newer housing developments, in an attempt to keep costs down and to comply with building ordinances, are on much smaller parcels of land. Maryville is also in Blount County, which offers many homes on large lots just on the outskirts of the city. I agree with you! Having a little distance from neighbors is preferable.

I get this comment quite frequently, and honestly, I struggle with how best to respond. I genuinely don't want to minimize your comments or disrespect your concerns. The truth is that the East Tennessee area is growing rapidly and will continue to do so far into the foreseeable future for a myriad of reasons. Like millions of my fellow citizens, we left California and moved to Tennessee several years ago. We came with the desire to fully embrace all of what made this area so special and NOT TO "California-ize" Tennessee. Most, albeit not all, inbound residents feel the same. I fully admit that East Tennessee's rapid growth has come at a price. Home values have soared more than the National average, and our infrastructure has struggled to keep up, but having relocated from an area that is experiencing a decline in its residents and subsequent workforce and tax base, I can promise you that problems that come with that reality are significantly worse. In kindness and respect - Justin
