I lived in Acapulco as a second home from 1962-2013. The earthquakes and hurricanes were the deal breakers, but the city is beautiful, and the people were super nice, and I was super nice to them, as I am with all non beggars.

I love your content, because I love MX, especially Merida. One gentle suggestion. I cannot offer expert editing tips, but I wonder if the music is a little too dominant over dialog at times. Looking forward to more.

A delightful video! My partner Jorge, our dog Buddy, and I will move to Querétaro City in May of 2022. That sounds far off, but it will be here before we know it! In the meantime, we will continue to visit a lot. In September we visited the Sierra Gorda for four days and stayed in a great cabin - the town of Pinal de Amoles is lovely! We visited again in November. Jorge (originally from Puebla) and I (originally from Dallas) will most likely rent a home in Zibatá or Cumbres del Lago when we move down. We will come back for a visit in April. In Spanish my name is Pepe. ¡Saludos desde Dallas, Texas!

Thanks for watching, Joseph! I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed the video. I don't think it's ever too early to start planning your move to Mexico & I'm so excited that you're going to call Queretaro home. Oooo, I absolutely love the Sierra Gorda & am hoping to buy a car in 2021 so I can spend even more time out there. It sounds like you already know a lot about Queretaro, but please let me know if I can answer any questions for you about living here.
@josephquillian2866
@josephquillian2866 3 года назад
Thanks so much, Alex. Call me Jody (I use that more than Joseph - and, of course, Pepe in Spanish) We will be buying a car in Mexico. In April a real estate agent is going to show us some rental homes and apartments in a few different neighborhoods in Querétaro so we can make up our minds as to where we want to live when we choose a home in 2022. Jorge and I are retired elementary school teachers. We have also taught ESL at the college level. For 11 years now I have worked as a Spanish English court interpreter - I love this career. In Mexico we won’t work unless we want to - and then it will be mostly volunteer work. If you need any help with your Spanish, don’t hesitate to email me: pepequill@att.net Spanish is my life! Jorge and I have been together for 29 years. :-) Pepe

Just one comment, when foreigners from more developed economies move or try to move to Mexico they’re amazed on who cheap it is for them. It’s is not cheap for the average Mexican. Do you think foreigners are causing prices for many things to go up?
@alex-wittman
@alex-wittman 3 года назад
I think in some city's that is the case. Foreigners should try to learn as much as they can about local prices especially when it comes to things like renting an apartment so that whatever they agree to pay won't price locals out of their neighborhoods.

does Uber in Mexico not use your phone's GPS coordinates to find you? here, street address only plays a role in reaching the destination &, as you're in the car, you can verbally direct the driver to the specific spot where you want to get out.

I would love to move to Mexico I’m single though and converted w my safety. I have a remote job (thank you Covid?), so now I’m free to go anywhere I wish. I was initially considering Greece or Canada... would like to live on the cheap so I can save up - as you know US is crazy expensive and I already pay the highest taxes on income (due to me being in CA). But not just for that honestly - I’m jaded in living in the US. The lifestyle. I’m ready to try something else.

I've lived in Mexico for three years now & absolutely love it! The affordable cost of living here has helped me to gain financial stability & switch from teaching English online to freelance writing. If you're ready to try something else, I can't recommend Mexico enough 🇲🇽

If safety is a main concern, try Merida, its not only the safest city in Mexico but the second safest in North America, only behind Vancouver, Canada IIRC.

Is Q mainly a cash city or are credit cards widely accepted? Do you have a Mexican bank or use a USA bank?
@alex-wittman
@alex-wittman 3 года назад
I do not have a US bank account, I use my Charles Schwab card to withdraw cash from the ATMs. You can pay for a lot with a card, but I would never go without having any cash on hand like I do sometimes in the US.

@alex-wittman
@alex-wittman 4 года назад
I have never been asked to show proof of a return ticket, but when you go through immigration, they will ask you when you plan on leaving. The date you give them (usually, a specific month is enough) should be within the 180-day tourist visa limit. Thanks for watching & I hope you enjoy your time in Mexico!

Hi, Doris! It really depends on what you are looking for. I have only ever lived in the historic center & absolutely love living here with all the cafes, restaurants & shops within walking distance. I know other expats/retirees really like the Juriquilla area. I have spent some time in Milenio Tres & think that is a nice are with lots of amenities and still not too far from the centro. I am thinking about investigating some of the other colonias in the near future since this is a question I've gotten a few times. Hopefully, I will be able to provide more information in the coming months. Thanks for watching!
