I always wondered how that camp oven worked. I almost bought one but I have limited space in my car when my son and his daughter come from NY to go camping with me. Glad it worked for you.
Just a tip on young Ruby...please make sure she gets a nutritional diet and avoid too many treats. I learned my lesson the hard way when my dogs skin broke out in awful ulcers. Some dog treats come from China and there are toxic ingredients that harm our dogs. Please get her not to rely on treats to occupy her time. Fresh apples, carrots, green beans, pumpkin are very good and dogs will eat them if you start young. I love that you have her. She will love and keep you safe. Be sure to give her lots of excersize because she will grow larger and, arthritis will get her joints. Thank you for letting me offer you this advice. If you have a dutch oven you could cook bread in there too, I use parchment paper to line the dutch oven, I'm glad you opened the window, for you, and your pup
Hello from the Great Southern Land. I grew up on a remote sheep station, ( ranch, ) and seemed to be always hanging around in the kitchen whenever my mother was baking bread. Like most boys from the bush, I quickly learned enough to make a meal and feed myself, but baking bread was my real passion. I've done it all from old style Aussie damper cooked in the hot coals of a camp fire to Irish soda bread. I've often wondered if the attraction to making bread comes from the sheer stubbornness of someone, ( like me! ) who tried making bread and failed numerous times, but was just too mule-headed to give up! Then when you finally turn out a good batch of bread, you sit there and wonder what all the drama was about!
With so many things going on in our country I pray for your safety. Keep your head on a swivel. Oregon looks beautiful. Your happiness is contagious. I have banana nut bead baking smells good.

Also, I like to bake between 325 to 350, regulating the flame as needed. Breads 375 to 400. Loving your videos. 😍

I bought one of those ovens just for kicks while camping, and what I did to improve upon it was, I bought two fire bricks to go in the bottom of it to even the heat out better, and bought some fire blanket, used for welding, cut it out and wrapped the oven in it. It kinda insulates it to cut down on burning yourself, plus, you save fuel by it heating up faster.

That's so awesome! From the standpoint of a woman who lived off the grid and in my pickup by choice, I used a simple beer bread recipe, no yeast or kneading or rise time. Yes Y'all it is doable! This is only my 2nd video with you but as soon as I saw your sweet Ruby I was in love.... then you made that wonderful bread with the fish chowder and I was hooked. Sometimes I use a tiny can of evaporated milk if I'm out of milk or cream. Sometimes even powdered creamer that dissolves in the hot water when I need milk for any recipe.

Hi R & R! Catching up on all your videos! Love them! Btw, I have the same Coleman oven and a few tips: Use a 10” x 10” (I have a 7.5” x 7.5”) or smaller, square pizza stone at the bottom to help regulate heat. Most stuff will burn otherwise. Also, I make a tinfoil cover for the top, back & sides to help hold in heat. Enjoy experimenting with the oven. Stay safe and happy adventuring! ❤

Hi Rowan. I was a nomad for about a year and also a truck driver for four years, and I used the RoadPro portable oven, which looks like a black lunch box along with small aluminum foil loaf pans to cook anything from soup, to meats, to just about anything that requires heat to cook. The thing about being a single nomad or driver is that when cooking, you have to remember you're only cooking for one person. For the bread, instead of making a whole big loaf, you could have just made 1/4 of the bread dough powder and adjust your measurements accordingly and made just enough to fill one small bread pan to fit inside the RoadPro Lunchbox Oven. Again, instead of buying full sizes of butter and milk, buy pints of milk and already cut patties of butter; in other words, just small sizes of everything.

And if you head back. South of Depoe bay The next turnout is called rocky creek day use State park. It's the best place for whale. Watching even better than Depoe bay. Park your car and walk down the pathway to the bathrooms. And there's a pathway beyond the bathrooms that walks all the way around through the woods. And to the whales cove and there's a viewing deck there. It is gorgeous and you can often see whales come into the cove
