Newton Cemetery Trivia: The first pond slightly to the left as you enter the cemetery you will notice a little island. Up till about 1962 there was a white small wooden house on it. Almost like a big dog house. It was for the ducks to gather in in cold weather. It was very common in that era for people to go to The Newton Cemetery to feed the ducks on Sunday seeing that there wasn't much to do as the old Massachusetts "blue laws" were in effect. Nothing could be open except Drug Stores and possibly gas stations. I doubt that anyone associated with Newton Cemetery Corporation even knows this bit of trivia. Also kids would sneak into the cemetery at night on their bikes. It made for quite a spooky ride near Halloween.

You are aware that Newton is one of the most expensive places to live in the USA? In my very basic condo development a 700 sq foot, one bedroom basement unit rents for about $1800. per month

If you like high taxes, high rent, traffic congestion, sky high property taxes and parking tickets ...... Newton IS the city for "you"

We cannot argue with some of these cons.
