Before traveling to Panama, we had tons of questions and very few answers. On a waterfall hike nearby the jungle in El Valle we met Jim, an expat who's been living with his wife in Panama for several years. He had a wealth of information and shares what it's like to call Panama home.

We traded-in our "Typical American Life" for one of Adventurous Family Travel. Here we share our journey in hopes it will inspire others to follow their dreams. We hope to show that travel is totally possible, even with small kids.
We are Jesse, Jenny, and Tucker Ingram. We began this adventure in 2017 and love the freedom our lifestyle affords. We've spent holidays with family, RV'd across the US, down into Mexico, up to the Canadian border and even participated in the "RV Nomads" movie. We flew to Panama for three months where we lived on the beach, and are now working on a mini-series about the NorthEastern US.

I enjoyed the interview, thanks for posting the video! I think about you every time we go rafting, but see you're livin' the good life. I'd love to spend part of the year in Panama. Could be easy since I'm retired from the military now. Keep up the good content.

Nice well produced interview and introduction to another area in Panama. Would have loved to see your rental and more of the town so I will look for that in another video. Jim you can still get up there pretty high for an old guy -sounds good keep on keeping on.

We actually found all our travels in Panama to be comparable (and not cheap) to things we'd do back in Florida and the States. Nothing against Panama, but our dreams of living the good life for cheap in Panama didn't pan out. Do you have any good advice for more affordable places?

@@OutsideIsCalling Coronado is relatively expensive but you are on or by the beach depending on your location. If you live on the beach in the azuero area, you can find placed for 500-600. What I appreciate is that there is more of a safety net in Panama compared to the USA. If you are a permanent resident or a citizen, you can go to a public hospital for $2. In addition if you buy a home for $120,000 or less there are no taxes, if you are in the agricultural business you don't pay any taxes until you make $300k. This helps not only the farmers who feed the population but the small farmer who feeds his family on a very small farm. So, if you own a home in Panama there are tax benefits. The first 120k there are no taxes, the remainder value of the home up to $750,000 you only pay .5%, yes you are reading it correctly half of 1 percent. Over $750k then it is a higher tax. Regarding international health insurance, I can have it for around $200 month and yes if I live in Panama I can use it in the USA with NO Deductible! Can go to France, UK anywhere for treatment. Try to find that in the USA for that price. Also, that is private insurance, if you go to the public hospital then it much less expensive. As a jubliado ( women over 55) I get 20% off airfare, discounts on restaurants, discounts on utilities, so many advantages to living in Panama. If you live in the mountains, you don't need ac, many people pay their water bill per year since it is so inexpensive. Utilities are inexpensive, wonderful produce everything grows here. Car insurance is $350/year.

@@mtngrl5859 I have been needing help but can't get straight answers on cheap rental prices for me. I'm 60 single female, no pets and deemed disabled here in the states and all my medical and prescriptions are paid for. I want to buy or rent a nice 2 or 3 bedroom home there in some small town that has pretty much everything I need, have a pool if possible. I would like to buy in Panama or rent but don't know where...just know its there. I need help from where to buy a car if I should there, how to bank to use my us money etc. What he said in the video is spot on about these companies that want $400 or whatever to show you an introduction to Panama and they show you all kinds of things. That's too rich for my blood and you can get that info for free instead of paying all that. I'm trying to figure that out and actually talk to someone about selling the home I'm in now, where do I put all my business stuff in this house and how do I move to a place there from here. I don't want to pay to move twice or put stuff in storage or should I sell it or get rid of it or move it to there if it's cheaper etc. I need much talking to someone about it. Please help me.
