The simple solution would be to have a bridge built where White's Ferry closed that connects that part of MD and VA and have both states share 50/50 in the cost although it wouldn't surprise me if VA gives MD a rough time about it because VA want's to be cheap about everything but one could make the argument that there is a bridge up where the Point Of Rocks is in MD so if that bridge was built then why not the other one? Poolesville is not affordable simply because it's in Montgomery County but if it was in Frederick County then it would be a little bit more affordable. I was in Poolesville about 20 years ago and it's a nice area but I agree that more businesses need to be built there. I'm surprised that Walmart, Safeway, Giant or Target didn't do anything with it because overall the community seems pretty nice.

Thank you for your comment! A bridge would be very nice. And I’m sure they’d still have to take over the land from family that owns the VA side which would mean they have to use eminent domain. Would be very interesting to see how that plays out!

Eminent domain can be used as a last resort but there are other options such as MD and VA could offer to buy the land at a higher value then what was paid for it and pay for their relocation as well. If the family refuses which is their right then the next step would be to make plans to build above their property or around their property. Any way to avoid legal issues first would be the best approach but like you mentioned we'll see how that plays out!
