I live in Arlington, VA now, but I grew up in Frederick, was there until I was 18 before I left for the military. Frederick was the best place to grow up. I come back often to visit and it's still an amazing city.
Prices are decreasing and homes are sitting longer. I’m in Maryland. Financing is falling through for some. I’ve seen several homes not sell and then pulled from the market. Interest rates aren’t the problem, the prices are! Waiting over three years to buy and hope that all of the realtors that convinced everyone to over pay and forgo inspections, lose their jobs. Vultures.
Thanks for the comment! Median sales prices are down in many areas across the country, but here in Maryland we are still up 7% year over year and have broken multiple sales price records this spring. Just a different market here with being outside of DC. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next few years for sure!
@@movingtomarylandhow is this true? Not only is it not, but I actively track the market and see multiple homes going for below asking, relistings, and removed from the market to rent. Homes are not selling like they did during COVID.
@@AnonymousPerson0182 great question, thats because you're speaking of price drops while homes are active on the market, not median sales prices (what matters). People overpricing their home does not equal lower sales prices year over year. It just means they are listing too high. Thanks again for your comment!
@@movingtomaryland the only thing that matters is home prices. That’s it. Rates fluctuate, as do home values. Taxes are based on what was paid. People are now going broke and foreclosing. I’m in Maryland, and see this. Realtors are just feeding more BS to perspective buyers. By the way, neither of my comments were questions. 😂
Maryland used to be the best until the gay stuff started being forced in public schools. No opt out in Montgomery County. MC used to be the best County.
Do t forget we have every season and every natural disaster, all at the same time! Oh and the humidity?! Nothing like sitting next to a rack of bacon steam cooking in his own suit.
Living downtown was a tremendous disappointment. Only a relatively small area feels safe. I certainly wouldn't live south of the creek or north of 3rd. Don't let the daytime festivals fool you. The creek doesn't feel safe at night. Most of the grand houses are rentals and have been broken up into apartments. Home ownership is hampered by the draconian Historic Preservation Commission. With relatively few exceptions, the shops are directed at tourists not residents. The former Asiana restaurant has been vacant for as long as anyone can remember and remains a huge embarrassment. Parking is a nightmare, but you can't go without a car because there are no grocery stores nearby, not even small ones. In short, it's a nice place to visit, but I don't recommend living there. I did, and I couldn't wait to get out.
I moved into LL when there were only 100 houses there and didn't move out until 2010. I watched it get overdeveloped with houses that didn't fit the original vision. The esplanade got crushed by falling trees. Was it ever repaired? After 53 years, the spillway bridge is still out, which isolates the community from points to the south. The Westwinds golf course went bankrupt. The whole thing is kind of disorganized mess now. I can't image how it has a sense of community.
they shouldnt compare total salaries, they should have a percentage of the salaries earned like 1-10000, 10000-20000 20000-30000 keep going up to the richest people, because when you average salaries that could be warped if you have a lot of billionaires living in Maryland
thanks to the BLOATED federal government and all the defense companies MARYLAND is very expensive to live in, but it has a low unemployment because of all the federal government and businesses that service them, but things are expensive so that high salary doesnt help much

hagerstown has actually gone through alot recently, and the city is improving drastically. our current m ayor had the most red ribbon cuttings than any other mayor before! the areas becoming great. you should make a video about us sometime

I have relatives in Damascus and have spent a lot of time there. Gas prices in Damascus are much lower than neighboring cities. There are three gas stations within a block of each other downtown and they are always busy. Grocery prices are lower too, especially meats, that are sometimes half of what Walmart charges! Jimmie Cone ice cream is favorite for miles around. When was the last time you saw a parking lot full of people standing in line for ice cream? The first and third Saturdays locals gather at Jimmie Cone to show off custom cars and hot rods. It's quite a draw. You are right about traffic, but people come to Damascus to shop! As far a liquor sales go, Mt Airy is 7 miles away and Germantown is 10.5 miles away. I don't see that as a problem. When I lived in DC, the crosstown traffic took me longer to get to a liquor store than when I was in Damascus. I will somewhat disagree with you about commuting. If you work in Baltimore you would never choose Damascus. But if you work in DC it is a smart choice if you have a family. Public safety is amazing as many police and sheriffs deputies choose to live here, as do many government workers, lawyers and doctors. As you move closer to DC you can't match that quality of life anywhere. As of 2024, in Damascus, a nice 4 bedroom with attached garage is about $700,000. That same house in Potomac or Bethesda would be about $ 1,800,000 and in Georgetown DC start at about $ 4,500,000 to over $10,000,000 if you can even find one, and the lot size will be tiny. So, for many, the extra 30 minute is not so bad if you're saving over a million dollars on your mortgage and waking up in the morning with all the tires still on your car. For professional families, it very hard to beat Damascus. MD.
Having lived in the area for about 23 years, its really sad to see Frederick making the horrible car-centric planning mistakes that every other city in America seems to be making. It is great to see that they are extending Carroll Creek though, that will be nice. I think the Brickworks neighborhood could be nice, but again, I see too many parking spaces, not enough green spaces, and yeah the style of architecture is horrid. Make it match all the beautiful brick and masonry in Frederick. Its crazy to have seen this small town turn into a city.
Great question! I recommend comparing ratings on Niche.com and Greatschools.org. Everyone has their own benchmark for "good schools" whether thats a 7/10 or 9/10. Happy to help with your search if you're looking to make a move, just reach out to me!
I also believe they are mis-calibrated to give tickets whether you're speeding or not. It's simply a revenue stream for Maryland. I stopped going there for that reason.
Interesting that you didn’t mention that violent crime in Maryland is at an all time high. Born and raised in the state and I’ve never seen it this bad.
Thanks for your comment! It just wasn't a top factor in people leaving Maryland. I'm sure people move out of specific cities in Maryland due to crime, but to say Maryland is crime-ridden across the state would not be true at all.
Thanks for your comment! I think the biggest complaint against them is not being caught speeding, but being ticketed by a camera and not an officer. It has been outlawed in many states due to false presumption that the registered owner is the driver
