I was stationed in Norfolk and I visited often and found the history fascinating. There were other communities of run away slaves all over the country from my understanding.

Living in nature and leading a simplistic and free lifestyle hunting and gathering, growing your own crops, livestock, harvesting electricity and technology your own, away from the city and from being enslaved to the society's materialistic and elitist standards as well as judgements, class hierarchy/system, the corporate rat race and monetary system, toxic people and their toxicity and schemes, politics. I will take the former over the latter.

You can try to dress it up with modern terminology and weak parallels all you want... These people were escaping being lynched, castrated, mutilated, sexually assaulted, murdered, tortured, experimented on, etc. All sanctioned and endorsed by the Amerikn govt. What a sick and depraved society.

A lot of the people when to the free maroon towns in Florida also during slavery using dismal swamp as a pass through. Those towns were self governed. The Indigenous were black people

I thought this was going to be about 'current slaves'...to my surprise-a bit of history. May God deeply comfort ALL people who are in slavery today. May He fill our hearts with creative, self-sacrificial ways to rescue them. Let us count our blessings brothers & sisters.

Why would it be about that? This is a part of American history that the country tortured and oppressed a group of people based solely on their God given ethnicity.

I am a Cimarron. We were not slaves!! Nor were the majority of us ever enslaved. Cimarrons are known as Black Seminoles of the South. Cimarrons are Maroons (Moors) not Blacks or Slaves. Get it right.
