In this video I talk about how Thailand has affected me. It has made me a willing prisoner. I talk about the addiction that Thailand has become for me, and how I can never see mysefl living anywhere else.
I first visited Thailand in late 2017. I wanted to throw myself from the Taxi on the trip back to the airport. Living and working in the USA never felt the same after that first trip. I stopped dating, buying anything new... heck I stopped doing everything. I saved every penny and focused my entire life on eventually moving to Thailand. I moved to Pattaya in September of 2023. Retired at the young age of 52. I bought a beautiful condo in an older building for 30k in April of 2024. I cant imagine living anywhere else. I am not a sex addict, I dont smoke or drink alcohol. I am here for the peace and the freedom. There is no way I could afford to retire in the West and have the lifestyle I have here in Thailand. It took 5 years of planning, saving and working overtime. I invested every penny into assets that would grow in value. 5 years of not eating out, buying new clothes, or dating. It was totally worth it. My life here is a dream!
Welcome. Freedom is real in Thailand. Our country is incredibly over-regulated and policed by an abusive money money-grabbing gang in blue. Keep the American dream and I will live mine here in Thailand.
@@alphaomegadaily I spent 8 years Army Infantry, worked as a correctional officer and recently retired as a Paramedic. Trust me, I used to drink a lot to deal with the type of work I did, and smoke 2 packs a day. I just got tired of feeling like $hit all the time. Its a personal choice, if I thought I would enjoy it, I would do both. I will say, It saves me a lot of money and Ive never been in better shape.
Working towards the same. Looking forward to travelling Thailand and finding my place to settle down. The US has become unbearably expensive and the culture dissapointing. Dating as a very fit and happy/confident mid-fifty year old man would be soul crushing if I was interested (I am not). Just saving and investing, living a healthy clean life, and planning for the move. Glad to hear of your happiness, motivates me 😊
64 yr. Old. Been in Thailand 6 months .. Prayed the other day not to have to go back to sell my house. (Would not be upset if I lost it all) .. very ingrained feeling Feels right .. always felt like home here .. my mind is at peace
Totally agree with you. I live in Asia and I would say Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam are similar to Thailand. I will NEVER return to Europe. You've matched my feelings precisely. Thank you!!!😊
I live in Thailand as well and I have no intentions of going back to the US. However, what you see on RU-vid about a few areas within some cities in the United States, doesn't mean it's like that everywhere. Everything is amplified in the news to cause fear or to get clicks.
Thank you for the heart felt video. I am retiring early from the US, selling everything, and moving to Thailand next year. I am a bit nervous, but this video got me excited!
Firstly, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I just had my first trip to Thailand this past April, and though I'm planning to return soon, I really didn't want to leave. The Thai people are wonderful, and I happen to love Thai food. I'm saving up, and planning to move there by the end of 2024, if not sooner. Finally, thank you for the most gracious ask for likes and subs. The internet would be a lot better if everyone followed your example. Sawatdi 🙏
I can’t think of anything you’ve said in your videos that I disagree with…You are so honest, I appreciate it. I am an expat in Bangkok, living near the weekend market in Chatuchak. Great call on Soi 22 as welll, thank you for all.
Look, the US may have its problems, but hard working immigrants can make it here building a better life for their children. For every westerner who complains about the west, there would be 10 times the amount of wide-eyed immigrants who would love to swap places with us.
i believe going back for a holiday is a good option, sometimes its good to get out of thailand, as you can feel jaded after living a long time in thailand
It is a loving confession to this country, I thank you very much for it. I feel exactly the same way, in many of the things you said. I come from Germany, from Hamburg to be precise. I don't want to live there again, although I am there every summer for 2-3 months. But here is my hometown, my local dung heap😄😄😄
100% agree with you about Thailand it’s a magical place. I can relate to all the positive adjectives that you used in your description of it! I recommend that you don’t say things like losing limbs though, as it’s unnecessary and words are powerful. Especially when thousands of people listen and imagine what you say. Sometimes things we say come true and I wouldn’t want that to happen to you. I’d edit that out asap and your limbs will be fine 😀 Have enjoyed your channel for over a year and will continue to support by watching and liking your videos.
you may have seen my first comment within mins of you posting! i hear your arguments and me i bow for you being so humble! i hear you loud and clear.....!
You are a good teacher yourself I remember during lockdown learning all sorts of words in Thai from you Don’t send your son away that would only damage him there must be a top school in bkk All the best Ken
From Canada, totally agree, it's scary here now ( inflation, unchecked immigration, woke political mentality, CBC, overweight women ). sp back to Thailand in July. My only thing, as with many foreigners coming to Thailand is the complicated visa system, its frustrating, but Thailand is wonderful.
I'm from Canada (Vancouver, BC) and have some life experience being 56 years old and I can't agree with you more about the very sorry state of Canada and the West. I have been to Thailand with my partner and we mainly spend time with her family who live in a more rural area and are a couple hours drive from Bangkok. I found her family and Thai people in general to be incredibly nice, genuinely friendly, hospitable and caring happy people. I felt free and at such ease in Thailand and found none of the nonsense being applied and existing in the West today and getting worse including all the 'woke'/cultural marxist political agenda in all it's forms (economic, political, social and cultural). I didn't want to leave Thailand and return to this degraded, deranged, damaged and deteriorating country of Canada. My goal is to leave Canada (the country of my birth incidentally) within the next three years and find a way to move to Thailand for the better and free'er type of life Thailand and its culture offer. Agree 110% with your comment and this video (both spot on). Cheers
Really interesting and thoughtful video. We recently had our 1st son in uk and in my head im planning on saving for few years n move to Thailand for him to start school there. But his mother seems to think schools in the west will be better for him, without ever having experienced them. The uk is a expensive mess and society seems to be getting worse every year
Great piece. I have a Thai partner in the US happy to be provider in his family, we would rather be back there, but this is his crowning moment. Meanwhile I want to be here for my Mom, planning with a good trust in case I pass to provide for him.
Hey Detroit is ok! It’s the outskirts of Detroit that is not so Good….But I’m moving to the Philippines as I was there before Covid and the people are like non other… I will check out Thailand as as I’ve been watching videos for years now.
I'm in the US, and i live in a pretty nice area, but considering the macro view if things, and where we're trending....i will be taking the necessary steps to apply for a Thai retirement visa, in the not too distant future!
The thai government has recently talked about imposing income restrictions on thai street vendors to clear up the sidewalks. For me, my decision to leave America isn't about immigration or independent women or about the government implementing social programs designed to help the citizenry. I am of the political perspective that I embrace those changes. For me, it's that the cost of living in America has gotten too high. Plain and simple.
People who come to Thailand because it's affordable for them are here for the wrong reason and often are very negative and unhappy. You come here because of the people and their culture.
Lived in Bangkok almost two years. Back in the states for one reason only.. to make enough money to go back to Southeast Asia . Bangkok is my favorite place in the world but I could live in Laos , Cambodia , or Malaysia just as well. They all have a very different vibe than the West🤷🏻♂️
I live in Canada it's not as bad people make it sound to be. Watching YT you're only getting small picture of what's going around. I have a good life. I tune out woke, immigration and politics and it doesn't affect me. I benefited alot from working and living in the west during my youngers years than I would have living in Thailand. Don't get me wrong I like Thailand travel there every year. Don't be scared learn to deal with change it's part of life.
I think at 60 you'd find it hard to start again. You couldnt get a job and and you dont have capitalbtobstart a business . So you're stuck in Thailand and make the best of it . I got a feeling you'll find something enterprising and challenging soon that will makebyou more content. I'm rooting for you.
@@alphaomegadaily By the way, you can ask me anything. I've experienced aspects of Thai living that other people wouldn't want to experience. I had a bloody good 20 years+ living on the wild side and being nice but naughty.
That is it exactly. If you have the money, you can live in the most beautiful places surounded by other rich people who will not rob you and you could even become a permanent residend. The main advantage of Thailand is that it is cheap compared to other places and for the retirement payment in the west. That is the main reason people go to Thailand. Imagine having ten times the money this guy has, he could find a rural farm in Canada or in the USA, Kentucky for example and live far away a calm and peaceful life without the stupid visa problems in Thailand. Money changes everything. If the money runs out one day or out of whatever reason they get not payed for a few months, they will notice that the society in Thailand does not give two sh*ts about them and lets them die of hunger on the streets.
@@davecopp9356 You might live a peaceful life in rural Kentucky if you bought some land to live on there, but if you don't know anyone there, it would only be a matter of time before some meth heads, or "Pillbillies", start trying to pilfer your belongings. Wealthy suburbs where high costs keep out the riff raff are about the only places left where you don't worry about crime in the U.S..
I’m so so wanting to come live and retire to Thailand. I cannot get the Gov Pension £ for another 6 years from UK Gov! That with private Pension will be much more than enough to live comfortably. Thai Gov also make it Difficult&Easy in the same breath but I get it and am in awe and totally accept that everything is done to protect the jobs and the Thai way of living etc and I wish it were the same from the Gov in UK! Sadly it is not, the country is a mess and on its knees and is an awful place to live in so I just pray I keep my health until that day in 6 years and I’ll be there like a shot without any complaints as to what hoops you have to jump through to stay visa’d in Thailand
Can you imagine going to live in foreign country and having kind and accepting local population. I bet thats all the economic migrants travelling to uk want, but they aint getting it. The way Brits treat migrants back home I'm surprised we're welcomed anywhere. I know i wasnt welcome in uk when as 9 yr old white British passport holder i was repeatedly told to duck of back to where i came from. Thats 🇬🇧 mentality and in 40 yrs in hasnt changed lol
You expressed my sentiments almost word for word as I would express my feelings about living in Thailand for the last five years. I am from The US and do not plan to ever go back. I miss exactly one thing. I loved going hiking and trout fishing in the southern Appalachian mountains. That can not be replaced.in Thailand. America has gone insane politically and socially. I will stay in the freedom Thailand offers.
You seen the Thai government wants According to the new guidelines, street vendors in designated relaxation zones must have a net income of no more than 25,000 baht per month after one year. Vendors exceeding this income threshold are expected to relocate to other permanent rental spaces.
I love visiting Thailand but would never want to live there full time. Philadelphia is a wonderful city, Detroit is on the comeback and New York, LA and a small city like Key West are vibrant and alive. Just like I don't believe the negative stuff by many RU-vid vids about Thailand don't fall for all the negative stuff you see and hear about the USA. Remember the basics from high school journalism class. Dog bites man that's not news. Man bites dog that's news. The other is, "if it bleeds it leads." That extends to the social media of today.
if you told a Thai things about back home, be it what immigrants get ,such as housing ,financial support ,feeding etc ,they wouldn't believe you . Enter illegally here and you're imprisoned ,the only way out is to have sufficient funds for leaving on a plane ,once you've paid the fine Yes ,the weather is a big plus ,cheap heating bills eh ?
about teaching .. look up john taylor gatto .. go homeschooling / constructivism .. some nassim taleb about the anti-fragile idea .. in the distant future get him an online highschool & university degree but also the dexterity of manual labor .. an other interesting concept is the schetinin pedagogy
1st watch of a video after unsubscribing after your last Immigration video. Not expecting a reply here but can I ask why the change of view on said matter?
in 10 years time Ireland will either have gone full 1984 dystopia .. or ..all the turbulence will have finished and it will be a much much better place again
So you just described how great Thailand society is.....but yet you also say if Irish people wanted the same for Ireland it is wrong....I don't understand your logic
Yes Thailand is definitely safe for foreigners especially if you are Not into drugs, constant drinking, prostitutes etc. If you are just a regular guy going about your business it's very safe, in fact.
